Saw this on the Vulcan forums... thought I'd share it here. This guy can handle a motorcycle!

Saw that the other day. He is probably as good at that as anyone could be. I just wish I was half that good.

He's got some skills alright. Not easy to push around a 800 pound bike like that.

If anybody could do it on a Nomad, I'd guess it would be billmac.

Didn't you know, Billmac actually trained that guy, right Bill?

I know Donny and even work with one of his brother motor officers. They all train a lot and have to re qualify about three time a year to stay a motor officer. I have learned a lot from watching and talking to them. My slow speed riding has improved 100% over the last year.

That just means if he had a car tire, he could have done all that without dragging his footpegs or crashbars. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

WOW!!! I don't think I could do this if I practiced all day, everyday for a year. This guy has some outstanding hand-eye coordination.

I have seen it done on my Nomad, for those wondering. My instructor took mine to demonstrate to me what I might be doing wrong. He thought the bike responded and performed well. Even with the fairing and "tour pak" on it. Which was good to know and see. The reason the bike wouldn't do it for me consistantly is because of me. "Operator malfunction"!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I posted this before but I took a weekend course not long ago on slow speed riding like that. It does take a lot to be as good as these guys for sure but you'd be surprised at what you can do with the right amt. of rear brake, higher revs and finding that "friction zone". I've been practicing and I'm slowly getting better. Getting use to cranking your neck around to where you want to go, is something that's hard to wrap your head around as you go in the opposite direction. And to not look at the cones or markers you might have set up. Look at them and that's where you'll ride. And I must add,....I never dropped the Nomad trying. Power to the rear wheel is what you need to keep constant and your bike will NOT fall over.

I would absolutely LOVE to be able to throw the Nomad around like that. Of course the LEO's don't have to worry about paying for the repairs after dropping the bike practicing either. The hydraulic clutch on the Nomad gives me trouble with slow speed maneuvers. I've got a MT25 spring for it but just have not had the opportunity to change it.

It is pretty impressive. I don't know how the guy can even remember which way to go in the course, let alone doing it almost perfectly.

Is the rake setting longer on the Nomad versus the HD? CJ would probably know that.
