On each side of the frame down tube just in front of the gas tank there is a plastic cover.
On the left side of the bike is there a cavity behind the cover?
I can't really tell from the service manual.
I want to put a toggle switch on this over and need to know if there is room behind it.
Thanks,
Bob

I just looked at my '05 and there seems to be barely enough room, depending on the profile of the switch. There is also a flange on the bottom of the plastic cover where a toggle might fit.
What are you using the toggle to control? Your bike looks pretty much stock but there are many places a home made bracket with a switch mounted to it could be placed.

I'll be installing Chuckster's light kit this weekend and want to be able to turn the lights off or on with a switch.
If it won't fit behind the cover I'll take a stroll thru the hardware store and find something to mount it on behind the windshield.

Yes, there is. I put a toggle switch on mine when I first installed driving lights. I put it there because it was a cheap part to replace if I changed things down the road, which I ended up doing.

I have 2 switches for 2 sets of passing lamps. One is on the cobra bar, which you wont have, and runs the lamps on that bar.
The other on is located under the seat and behind the tank, all wrapped in tape and tie rapped to the frame. This one has a blue led light on the switch. I can see the reflection of it on if I look down. I learned to feel for it when I want it on or off. I run straight circuits for these lamps since I tend to want them On with the engine off, and I dont want them on when cranking the bike from a cold start.
The only bad thing is I could forget and walk away in day time. I relly like that under the seat location alot.
I have no idea how much room is under the goose neck cover. I have wondered about the back of the triple tree facia though. There is plenty of room there and one side could have 6 to 8 switches, for a total of 12/16 if you need that many.

Thanks everyone , lots of good ideas............... :)

I put this on my 05 and it works like a charm. One side is the driving lights and the other is the viberider. A little pricy but looks good.

You could make a small bracket from a short piece od aluminium angle about 1 1/4" and mount it on one of your mirror stems. I did that for my cruise control and my handlebar heater switch.

Scott, you definitely "changed things" down the road! Not intentionally though. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

Thiis is what I ment in my post above, if that wasn't clear. This post of yours is very clear, and so I am quoting it. There is plenty of room there for switches sartin http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
