A few months back, someone needed a replacement schrader valve for the rear shocks and found out they are not a standard size, such as a car or bicycle might have. They were able to come up with a replacement, but I'll be darned if I can find it here. Does anyone remember this?

Not for me, but I told the guy I'd see if I can help him out.

CJ,
Mine was leaking a couple weeks ago when I checked it before heading up north on my US/Canada ride. I just stopped in at a Les Schwab and the guy changed it for me in about 2 minutes....with no charge!

No, it's the internal valve itself that's needed. Somebody found one at an a/c repair place or something like that.

Just the valve core? There are only a few different sizes of those. I'd check any tire shop, automotive supply, or hardware store. If I'm thinking of the right thing now.

Jay is correct there are only a few different sizes and most are to due with length. I replaced mine (FWIW) with a pair I bought at Canadian Tire so in the US Harbour Freight, maybe Wal-mart, Pep Boys etc. Just take one of your old ones with you to match lengths for the replacement core and you will be fine. IT is the tiny O Ring rubber that fails causing leaks and even NEW ones sometimes over a period of time can loose pressure even when tightened up. In most cases just tightening the core can help it maintain pressure for a longer time and different temperature changes.

Also go to a local bicycle shop I bet they have a core that would fit fine.

Hi about two weeks ago me and some H.D. guys were riding and for some dum luck a H.D. back wheel (stock) the valve came out and lost it!!!!! he just got over going 100MPH I was runnig at 70 and he went buy me like I was standing still. (H.D. BIG BORE KIT!!!) We turned on to a country rd. off the highway,no more then 5 min's his rear wheel went FLAT the valve core FELL OUT!!!!! after we stoped me being the old man and on a NOMAD got out my tools ele air pump and more ,ended up taking my shock valve out and they put it in the H.D.'s valve it worked for about 500miles later and he had 2 new tire's put on. So it must fit, O and I always tell them I have a H.D. tow rope in my bags. (that will bite me in the A*S some day I know.
