View Full Version : Shock mount greaser's.
One night this week at work I had a brain storm so when I got home, I zipped these up. They work great...should have put them on a long time ago!

Looks like grease fittings sitting on top. Not sure what they are. Be sure and let us know.

I, obviously, have no idea other than there are grease fittings on them.
Maybe they have something to do with the fork-bearings so you can grease them. Or maybe another area of the bike that is always needing grease? The shaft-drive or something?
Those are the two areas most complain do not ever have enough grease.
Hopefully it isn't something perverted!!! BD will chime in then! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Hmmm..glwilson is on to something here
And another angle for the "What are these" items that grease an area that almost always gets neglected!

Maybe the top shock fitting.
Yippee..Bob is the smartest of all. Yup..they are top shock mount greasers. Probably one of the most neglected area of the bike, yet a vary important area to grease. A dry mount will affect the handling!

Hey TC... this isn't a time for short jokes... I have to guess what this is... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif I'll deal with YOU later... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Bdog... I am at a total loss at what is 15 inches above the swing-arm. I was thinking near the front of the swing arm and cannot think what is above that area that needs grease fittings.
The only other thing near the back (besides wheel-bearings) would be the shocks... but where would a fitting like that make any sense.
So... this is where the shocks connect to the frame? That is my final guess.
Damn, where is Mac when I need him?!!

Nice job. I agree, that area dose deserve more attention than some of us give it. I realized that when I installed the progressive shocks on my last Nomad. Shocks in a bind HURT!

Great idea. But for those of us who do not have the stuff or skill to make them, what are they selling for and do they fit the 1500?
Thanks for your time
I went for a 2 tank ride yesterday and what a difference! Smooth action, no binding and a big smile on my face. I'm not sure if any manufacturer makes these and I don't sell them..sorry Sonny. These shock mount greasers where just a idea I came up with while bored at work one night, so I made them...glad I did...Bdog.

Haven't been on much Rick, been viewing when I get the chance but no posts. Work has finally slowed down along with the traveling. Operator and myself are getting our bikes (and trike) ready for the Rally. He had some electrical issues, along with wanting to wire in a new stereo. I'm in the middle of swapping out my stock speakers for an upgraded Polk db521 model to get rid of my crackle when I crank the volume. Plus, installed an amplified antenna to improve reception. Wife and I ran to Jasper with the new trailer a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with the handling and mileage.

Good news all around. Glad the trailer works well. Cargo or tent? I don't remember.
By rally do you mean the redwoods rally? Give me an itinerary of you expected travel plans and stops. I hope we can hook up. I'm not sure what's going on for me yet. Still trying to get back to work. It's been almost 1.5 yrs now!!!!

Rick,, just a cargo trailer.
As far as our itinerary the days will go as follows ( best laid plans anyways )
Day 1. Edmonton to Radium Hot Springs
Day 2. Radium Hot Springs to Tacoma ( outside of Tacoma really, any Best Western we find )
Day 3. Tacoma to Portland ( again, outside of Portland and any Best Western )
Day4. Portland to Crescent City.
Hope you can make the Rally. Not sure how many of the day rides we'll both attend due to the long haul just to get there. We may just do our own thing during the day in lieu but we'll play that by ear when we get there. After the Rally, we head up the Oregon coast highway on our way to Port Angeles to take the ferry over to Victoria and then spend a few days with Deb's folks in Duncan. After that, over to Vancouver to see my family for a day then back through the interior of B.C. on our way back home. In total I've accounted for 17 days on the road.
