I was looking at the fuel tank size using this link
http://www.kawanow.org/specs.htm
The info appears to me to be wrong as it states the 2002 is the only year the 1500 tank was 5.0 gallons. I have a 2003 and it states I have a 4.2 tank but I can get 190 miles out of a tank without running out of gas which would indicate I get 45.23 mpg which I have never gotten....I average between 38-42.
I am thinking I have a 5.0 gallon tank
Does anyone have better info?

You have a 5 gallon. The 2005 and up is 5.3 gallon. Still too small in my opinion.

The carb bikes are 4.2 while the FI 1500s are 5.0 and the 1600s are 5.3.

OH crap...20 liters divided by the exchange rate converted to gallons plus tax, duty, and then fill out MA papers to satisfy NAFTA.......nevermind I will just fill up when the light comes on!

The link says I have a 4,2 gal on my '01 carbed. I have been fueling up at or before 100mi for the last 45k mi because I thought I only had 3gal and a little bit. I wonder if I have an exxtra 30+ miles in a tank that I have not been using. mmmmmmmmm?
Thanks for your time

When I fill it is to about 1/8 inch above the metal plate in the filler neck. I have never put quite 5 gallons in. I think 4.8 gallons is the most I have ever put in.

I used to fill about half way up the metal doohickey. The most I ever put in was 5 gallons.
My low fuel lite comes on with about 2.5 - 3 liters remaining leaving me with about a 35-40km reserve, mayby 20 minutes at speed.

Maybe it's 5.3 for 1600's minus the fuel pump displacement!

You have to fill past the bottom of the metal trap in the tank opening.

About 2 years ago after traveling 206 miles on country roads in Tenn, Miss and Ala in the evening and into the night (the last 60 of which were very careful miles) I made it to a sevice station that was open. The bike was still running when I pulled in. I put 5.283 gallons in. At the time I believed I had a 5.6 gallon tank on my 07 and thought I was pretty lucky. Now, looking at the 5.3 capacity I think I was dam lucky.
I do fill my bike to just over the breather tube in the tank neck. So maybe I get a extra tenth or so in to start?

I used to fill to just past the vent tube in the neck. I got a couple of dribble marks from overflow on a warm day. After I buffed the marks out of the tank I haven't filled past the bottom of the trap again.
