I got this link from a non motorcycle riding friend and thought I'd pass it on. If you're into vintage, have a look. I would love to have one of these to pull out and go for a spin on, some summer day.

That was cool. I love the old bikes; and that event looked like it would have been a lot of fun to have been there. ;)

I think they have a few of those old bikes at the "Wheels of time" in Maggie Valley.
That's somewhere anyone going to the rally next months needs to go!!
Does the weather over there ever get good?
Seems like it's always cold and dreary.
I guess the love of old motorcycles makes people do some strange things.... look at me!

That was really interesting, I could look at old bikes all day long.
I cant beleive the guy who posted those pics, could fit that many into one post.

Thanks for sharing that. Not a whole lot i like more then looking at where we came from and how easy we really have it.

I can appreciate both the unrestored and the ones that look like they came off the showroom floor. Nice to compare the bikes and see what people have done or not done to them.

Sweet rides. Wouldn't mind having a couple of those in the stable.

The last time I was in Wheels Through Time in Maggie Valley the guy who runs the place caught me looking at a 1913 v-twin something.
He spent some time telling me about its history.
He hopped on it. Started up this fire breathing 1000cc beauty.
He says to me 'Hand me one of those.' I turn around and grab a leather helmt from a display.
He takes off through the building, out the lobby and heads down US19!
Don't miss that place during our week in June.

I'll definitely be dropping by there. I have been on their site for several years now and enjoy the videos of them restoring the bikes. They claim every bike works and is occasionally ridden -- rather than just being put out on display.

I'll probably buy a raffle-ticket for their annual bike giveaway (a rebuild of some type). The ticket proceeds help support the museum. A good cause in my mind. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

Great post, Rick. Beautiful bikes, loved them. The 3 wheelers, with the extra seat up front, I guess you could say that was the proverbial 'backseat driver'.

goes to show that genius is not a new thing.

I like the 'you first' bikes that has the passenger in the front. My wife would never ride....

I'd love to put a few captions in there like 'It's my bloody horn and I'll squeeze it when I bloody well please' or 'I gotta take a leak'.

'It's my bloody horn and I'll squeeze it when I bloody well please' or 'I gotta take a leak'.

LOL that comment reminds me of probably the funniest thing I have ever seen on a motorcycle.

Back in the late 80s early 90s I was in Villa Rica, GA at a state troopers/DMV post changing over my license from Florida to GA. I was standing outside watching the kids come in for their driving test. Few bikes there of people getting a motorcycle license.

This little old lady in full trooper uniform walks out with clipboard in hand and yells out the name Frank. "Frank your up please pull your bike up to the yellow line" This line was a start line for the little road course they have in the back.

Up to the line pulls up frank on this old old beat up BSA. Ratty leathers, great big guy, covered in tattoos. His bike looked like a true rat ride. No horn, no turn signals, home made engineering all over the bike etc.

She is standing next to him doing her little check offs, high beam, left turn signal, right turn signal etc. Frank gives the proper hand signals for the turns. I swear the lady wasn't even looking up.

She then says, Horn...

All of a sudden this guy yells out at the top of his lungs GET THE F&*K OUT OF THE WAY" http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif LOL poor lady jumps back drops her clipboard and almost falls over. 2 troopers come barreling out of the side door i guess thinking the world had ended. Man they read him the riot act, he was perfectly quiet and said, but thats my horn guys whats the problem? She did ask for it. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

True story, His name was Frank Thedi and I ended up getting one of my tattoos from the guy a couple years later.
