I was out running some errands today on the bike. As I went to start my way home, I got geared up put the kickstand up and it fell back to the pavement. I put it up again, and again it fell to the pavement. I got off the bike only to find my kickstand springs lying on the pavement under the bike. After trying to put them back on, I found out that the springs had actually stretched. So when the kickstand it up the springs fall off of the posts. I used a couple of zip ties to hold it on so I could get it home.

Has anyone ever had this issue before?

I will have to wait till morning to go to the stealer to get a new kickstand spring.

Or try Ace hardware. My Ace HW has a large assortment of springs and he is a lot cheaper than the dealer.

There have been two or three people with this problem. Be sure and keep the spring lubricated. Does seem to be an issue though.

Get the side stand lubed in the mount.... if it isn't ovaled already. If it is get hardware store springs.

Mine fell off in the driveway. Had to buy a hardware store spring with a straight tail on one end that I could bend around the peg that it hooks to. Problem is as mac alluded, the frame hole is ovaled out that the kickstand is bolted into. Kawi put two springs on these for some dumb reason and they really ream out the hole.

I lubed my shifter linkage today and the side stand. My side stand seems to have no slop. It's just amazing what oil and grease can do to limit wear.

So far the one real problem my bike has is the high beam light won't work in Spring. It did that last year, and again this year and i can't find a fault.

I take it apart to where i can see the lamp is glued to the board, and i don't want to break the glue. I check everything else put the unit back on the bike and it's good to go for the whole season.

Next Spring I will be the same thing happens.

After taking the side stand apart for inspection today. I found the shoulder of the bolt itself to be worn badly. So I welded and did a little grinding on the shoulder bolt. I lubed it all up nicely as I put it all back together, It actually has lot less slop in it now than it did new.

I hope you slammed some grease, or anti size in there on assembly. It was a good time to lube the bell cranks on the shifter linkage too. Some guys still don't know that linkage is exposed.

I had the same problem recently. The springs fall off because the hole in the tab on the frame where the kickstand mounts wears and the tab itself wears. This extra movement lets the springs fall off. I fixed mine by boring out the frame tab to 1/2 inch. I used a 1/2" bolt with enough shoulder to replace the factory screw. This also required drilling out the top hole in the kickstand and rethreading the lower hole to the 1/2 13 threads per inch of the replacement bolt. The message here is keep this joint lubricated.
