OK, so I come out of the grocery store last night, and there is the nomad, laying on the crash bars. I ran over, got it up, looked it over and as near as I can figure, someone hit it with their car from behind. Rear fender is banged up, right side bag is badly cracked, and directional signals bent. That seem to be the worst of it. Got so mad I just fired it up and went home. Now I'm trying to find a shop here that will do the work since I hate turning wrenches. Doesn't matter where you are, we are surrounded by morons and idiots.

I would have phoned the police and got a police report, then called the insurance company. That is hit and run with probably over a thousand dollars damage by the sounds of it.

If the bag has to be replaced that is over $1400.00. Mine was replaced after being hit from behind a couple years ago.

With the fender, bag, and all it was over $4000.00

Hell, I damaged my Nomad to the tune of nearly 10 large and it was still ridable. These parts are horrendously expensive.

Very expensive parts. Don't know how you were parked but I always leave the bike back in the parking space. If you park too far in people may not see it and tear in like crazy thinking it is an available parking space. This way they will see my bike before they even think of parking. May not have helped in your case. Just the way I do it to try and protect the bike.

Given the slow speed maneuverability of the bike I always park far out, in the least occupied row. Backed in. No one behind me when I left it.

Check with the grocery store to see if they have security cameras that may have caught the license plate number of the person who hit you. The best case is that they have insurance and you file it with their insurance company to pay the bill. Also, they may get to visit the Taxpayer's Bed & Breakfast.

I was going to say. You need to check real quick to see if the store has security cameras. Most do these days.

Sorry that this happened to you. The same thing happened to a friend of mine at his office parking lot and the driver never did the right thing and turn him/herself in. It must be very frustrating.
