Just wondering if anyone has tried one. They're expensive, but cheaper than a mustang seat. Any ideas?

I have one and I use it. It's sewed it into my sheepskin for extra comfort. I don't leave it on the bike all the time; only when I'm doing some serious miles. Just don't put much air in it.

Airhawk 2 works the same as Airhawk 1 and less $$$.
Material is not quite as bomb proof but still very tough.

I bought an Airhawk a few weeks ago. Only used it on short trips so far. No complaints yet.

I tried one. There OK for a change of pace but certainly not a long term fix for what ails you.

It's no substitute for a comfortable seat.

I have used one for a year. Been on several 400+ mile days. It's "ok" - better than my Mustang seat alone. But, I am going to order a Russel Day Long or a Diamond seat when I get home from this work gig.

Did I say that? No. I can't help it if the stock Ultra seat is infinitely more comfortable than the stock OEM Nomad seat. In fact the Ultra seat is much better than the $600 Mustang seat I put on the Nomad.
Putting a pad or cushion (sheepskin/gel/bead/air) on the stock Nomad seat is, for most folks, like putting a band aid on a broken leg.

Stopped by the HD store. The Ultra seat costs $22,000, but it didn't come with much of a bike. I'll just try the Airhawk.

I got an airhawk about three years ago. Then I put a sheepskin on it. It's okay for a change but even if there is little air in it, it causes me to sit up too high. I don't use it at all anymore.
I have found that if I ride often and far, my butt gets used to the regular seat. I remember when I first got the Nomad, I couldn't go farther than 60 miles without extreme discomfort.
I just got back from a 1900 mile ride from Iowa to Kentucky to Michigan to Chicago and home. Some days were well over 400 miles and discomfort was minimal. I believe that the longer you ride, the more "conditioned" your bumm gets. And highway pegs help your legs also.

My airhawk helps but it does raise you up on the bike. The stock Nomad seat is a killer for me. I respect those that can use it for long hauls.
The Harley Ultra must have a nice seat. My nearby Harley dealer has a used 2008 Ultra with 32k miles for just $20k plus TTL. :)

I agree. I have 2 ProPads(DryGel) pads that have been used 3 or 4 times max. $129.00 and $119.00 for the both. Good for a while, but nothing replaces a good seat or the reworking an existing seat. I'd sell both ProPads for the cost of one shipped if someone was interested. ;)

This is what I'm going to try when I head out on my 1500 mile trip next week. I have a gel pad and sheepskin that I have never used on the nomad. I'm going to alternate/combine those for a change up. I thought about the airhawk, but I'm so OCD that I's probably spend too much time adjusting the air. I also added a grasshopper backrest. I expect that to help as much as anything. In addition, I put on some highway pegs that I had in the garage. With those combos, I think that I can find comfort just by switching it up occasionally. Thanks for all the input.
