I've had my new "CUSTOM" seat for a little over 2 months now, and thought I would see what you guys/gals think of it. It replaced a 3 piece Mustang seat, and the difference is phenomenal. I'm well satisfied with it, and here's a few pics of it, some are comparing directly with the Mustang. It is considerably cooler on the rump.

The passenger Mustang is 12" wide (that's a wooden ruler laying on the seat)

The passenger Diamond is 15" wide

And a couple of shots mounted on the bike.

Looks really comfortable. I think I like it better on the bike, though. The table is a little hard to crawl up there and sit down........

Went on their site, but it looks like they don't make one for Vulcans/Nomads past 2008/1600cc. They also don't have a price list. It'd be nice to know what they want for one of those.
Looks nice and comfortable, enjoy!

No Steve, with my current situation, The longest I've ridden non stop so far is ~100 miles. have a lot of short rides on it, and I can say I do like it much more than the Mustang.

TC, the rider's seat is about an inch wider than the Mustang, but the width is based on your physical size, and I had him make the front of the seat (where it goes over the tank) about 1" longer than stock (which the stock is about 1/2" longer than the Mustang) so it would cover up where the stock seat rubbed on the tank. I don't think the new seat contacts the tank any farther up than the Mustang did.

Who makes it?
It is made by Diamond custom seats. Their website ain't nothing fancy, but their product is top notch. here's a link to their website
http://www.diamondseats.com/catalog.htm
They don't list any pricing, he wants to speak with you and the pricing isn't all that bad (for a motorcycle seat anyway)
The rider seat with driver's backrest (with a detachable pouch on the back) and the pillion seat was $629. you could use the front seat and backrest on a solo set-up too. I also sent my trunk backrest to him for him to recover it to match the seats. The cover was $129 and he installed it for free, and then to put studs on everything was another $75. I could have got the diamond pattern, or the smooth (like the mustang), guess which one I chose http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif. It looks so soft and cushy, but it actually is pretty firm.
This is a custom seat, made to fit you and the passenger. He makes his own seat pans and everything. If your not me, and sat on my seat, you may or may not like it, it defiantly is different than the Mustang and it took some getting used to after being on the Mustang for so long. Like Brad says through the echo,.......... "Me likey!!"
It does take a little while to get one. I ordered it on January 30 (slow time of the year) and got it March 3. He said it usually takes about 6-8 weeks to make a set, and in the spring, is when he's the busiest.

Cliff, the reason I asked is I got an Ultimate seat that is real comfortable but it is wide at the front and there is a pressure point on the inside of my legs that is annoying as hell after a few miles.
I am reluctant to start cutting foam from a $300 seat that i paid $200 for.
I could sell it now but if I start modifying it, I don't think it would be to easy to sell.

I have been thinking of trying a "custom seat".
I was looking very hard at the Russel Day Long.
This looks to be a bit cheaper.
Not sure what to do now.

Well, I took the wife for a ride today (her first ride on the new seat) and she was VERY happy. She said it felt like she has more room, and maybe sits up a little higher. You know the old saying, "If Mama ain't happy, Nobody going to be happy"
