We removed our Stebel's off the Nomads and are mounting them on the quads. The horn on a quad, like that on a Nomad, are crappy and I have already come across a bear back in the mountains with nothing but that crappy horn to blow.
Can a Stebel take getting wet or possible submerged? We had the Stebel's mounted on the Nomads but they were mounted high up, where the windshield provided protection, and didn't get much moisture but they will get wet on the quads.

They can probably get wet, but submerged and covered in mud will most likely shorten the life span. Dirt and water get in and start corroding connections inside. Try to mount it up high near the headlight or on a cargo rack somewhere so its not always in a spot where its going to get wet and mud covered.

I know that they are particular about the mounting angle too, but I've had mine 90 degrees off the recommended mounting angle and it's still working fine and when I wash the bike I don't pay much attention to how much water I get on it. Mount the horn on your handle bars, I you submerge the horn then, the ATV isn't running anyway.

I have my Stebel horn in the stock horn position and have rode through torrential downpours with no ill effects to the horn. I would no want to put one under water though.
The horn itself will be OK if it gets wet as long as you have the trumpet pointed so that any water getting in will drain out - just be sure to place the relay so it stays reasonably dry or it will short out (thats what happened to me).
