This subject has been covered a ton of times here, but because I wasn't ready to make a purchase,.... I just didn't pay attention to the threads. But now I've decided that it's time I find a good breathable rain suit. I seem to remember Frog Toggs???
Anyway,........ any suggestions on what to buy and maybe what to look for in rain gear? Price is important and don't want to break the bank when laying down the cash.

Glad you brought this subject up again Ricky, I need something also. At $58 for the set... it's almost disposable... long as they last a season.

Get the inside pant leg lined with some leather or denim and they'll last a lot longer than one season.

Anyone who has Vance and Hines duasl will loose the RH leg in the first use of Frogs. They are great except very heat sensitive.

I bought a set of Frogg Toggs Road Toads at the Cabela's store in Glendale a month or so back. I think they were around $50. No, they aren't purple - they are black.

Had the frogg toggs with the right leg heat shield installed. They lasted one ride. Even with the heat shield the right leg melted to the vance and hines. Ended up with tourmaster 2 piece suit with nomex pants. Used several times with no problems.

I may have to finally buy a rain suit. Our company is moving from Deer Valley area north phoenix to down to the other side of phoenix at I-10 and Elliott and I live in Anthem. This means a 45+ mile one way trip to work and I am sure I will get wet every now and then on the bike. I am only 14 miles from work now. Need rain protection even in phoenix.

Oh dude, I don't envy you with that commute. When I worked at our corporate offices on University/47th St, that was a 35 mile commute from South Chandler, a lot of it was I-10, but I-10 W is a parking lot from Chandler Blvd all the past the Broadway curve, even at 6:30 AM. That's one reason I bought a motorcycle, so I could use the HOV lane all the way in. The only problem was having to cross 7 lanes of traffic after US 60 to get off on the 143/Airport exit.
I work at Warner/Price now and it's a 17 mile commute and I take all surface streets. Not bad at all.

I have heard of people stiching part of an ironing board cover on the inside right leg of their rain suits to act as a heat shield. Just throwing that out there as a possibility.

Cactus Jack, your Avatar 'shore has a pretty mouth!'. By the way, especially for all the Canadians coming to the Rally. I just watched the movie "Deliverance" a week ago, probably the first time in 20 years. And just to let you know, where the Rally is being held is about 75 miles away from where they made the movie! Yeehaw, Squeal like a pig!
Anyway, back to the thread. Rickyboy, I just stopped last week at a outdoor store here called "Dicks", believe it or not. It's a big chain around here. Anyway, I stopped to NOT buy Frogg Toggs, was looking for something else. They had a bunch of different type of rain gear for sale, I ended up buying the Frogg Toggs - Road Toggs. I've never seen them before, was quite impressed. They are super light, breathable, and totally rain proof as I can attest to. It rains a lot here and I ride my bike pretty much every day to work.
I paid extra for mine as I had to get a bigger pair as I wanted the Toggs to be able to fit over my leather jacket and chaps, so got the 2XL. Think it was $64 bucks. Regular sizes where in the $50 range.
I didn't really care for the color, as I wanted something super bright so people could see me when it's storming out, but am happy with them. They are a dark color with some pin stripe reflective striping on them. I'm not sure how people are melting theirs, as it doesn't seem to be 'plastic', almost like a paper material if that makes sense. Super strong.

I have had a set of fluorescent green frogg toggs now for about 3+ years and no problems. I have V&H dual baggers and haven't melted the pants yet - probably just cursed myself :-( Frogg toggs does make a heat shield for the pant leg that glues on, which is essentially just a piece of ironing board material. I find them easy to slip on over my riding gear and they pack down into a small bag that stays in my saddlebag. When I bought them, the rep told me just to stuff them in the bag and not to fold them neatly or eventually they will leak where they continue to get creased. Don't know if that is true or not, but I simply stuff them in the sac and I haven't had a problem with them leaking.

I like your Avatar theme you got going. Sling Blade, no this. Haven't been on long enough to know if you've had others.

I like the toggs and you can use them in cool weather too, they will keep you warm. You have to watch out for the pipes and the heat. I cooked mine so I guess my pants need replacing.
