Looks like a good product, and it reminds me of the front seats of a new F-150 with leather seats. The front seats are "cooled" which basically means that the top of the seat is perforated and a fan below circulates air up. There isn't any "cooling" factor as far as a/c is concerned, but the air movement really feels like an a/c. I would assume this is the same principle with these m/c seats. If the air really moves through them when you ride, that would be great for long-term comfort.

There are a couple beemer folk that swear by them, but most beemer people that upgrade their seats get Russell or Rick Mayer.

I read the material. Looks interesting. Just wish the OEM seats were quality to begin with versus having to make mods...but this is quasi-customized.

It sounds convincing, but nothing short of a long ride will be proof in the pudding. Its amazing how a small amount of foam, vinyl and glue can add up to the prices they ask.

Nice web site.
Lots of numbers on the web site and me being a technical type you could convince me the moon is made of green cheese if you have enough numbers.

If I was ever to spend that kind of cash on a seat I would for sure.

Looks like a good idea but I would be concerned about getting freezer burn on my butt.

Interesting concept. They don't sound customer friendly but I like the fact they aren't afraid to speak their mind.

I don't understand why they can't send your OEM cover back with the new seat? They don't indicate it gets destroyed. Maybe they sell it?

If the Beemer crowd loves them they must be comfortable. Some of those guys rack up alot of miles in bad conditions.

One advantage the Russel has is you can cut cost by doing just the rider seat (assuming you don't ride 2 up much) but still have it be a pretty close match to the pillion/sissy bar pad. You would almost have to replace both seats with the KS to match.

If I were to change out both the rider + passenger I would give this Kontour seat serious consideration. I like the fact you can return it for a refund (eventually) if you can't get comfortable after a few tries. That must be why they are so adamant about only working on 100% OEM stuff. That way they can resell it if needed.

But like the Russell I would need to know someone that has one and trust their opinion. Too many people give endorsements just because they have one (of anything) rather than giving an honest assessment.

It is like the person that states "it is the best". Well how would they know it is the best if they haven't tried all of them?

Like I said, a couple beemer riders talk them up. It seems that Russell and Rick Mayer get most of the business with Bill Mayer right behind them. the biggest complaint about custom seats by these guys that that it raises the seating position and with the wings in the seat, they have a harder time getting their feet on the ground. The BMWs tend to be taller than other bikes (unless you get the Low Suspension version) and I have to wonder why they would buy a bike that didn't work for them. They are great bikes, but if my feet didn't touch the ground, I'd find something else.

the concept seems good and pricing is similar to russell but i don't care
much for the looks of thier fabric seat cover material,at least not on a
cruiser type bike which is all about style.i'll stick with my ultimate seat
which for me has been excellent.

It's more than the Russell, depending on options and more than a Rick Mayer for sure. I'll never buy another off the shelf seat again, after my experiences with a Mustang. It's worth the extra $1-200 for a seat that is made for the rider.

Get a Russell...

My bike had a three piece Mustang when I bought it. So far it has been good but I haven't been on any multi-day rides yet. I have a sheep skin I use and that seems to help quite a bit.

Their site has lots of words but little comprehensive info, in my opinion...seems to me they are like snake oil salesmen..I am probably wrong but that is just how it strikes me..they never seem to get to the point, and the presentation is sketchy on what their seats and prices are..
