As I was passing by a local dealer, I noticed a Vaquero outside. I hadn't seen one in person yet, so I turned around and went to check it out. He ended up having 4, 2 red and 2 black.

They were marked $16,500. The boss said that he would "make me a good deal". The 19 year old female "salesman" told me that to get better than $15,500, I'd have to talk to the boss. While I'm really not in the market, I thought that was kind of high.

What kind of prices are you all seeing on them?

The boss told me that he was thinking about Demoing the one that was outside. It was already tagged, and had been ridden. I told him to give me a call when he did it, as I wanted to ride it.

Thats about what I'm seeing here in Arkansas. I looked at one last week at a dealer in Bentonville ( Home of Walmart ). Yep there high. I really like the looks of the bike but don't know if I want to spend and extra 3G's on a fairing.

So it would appear that $14,000 to $14,500 is where the "sweet spot" is on these. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

When you buy on Ebay don't forget to figure in shipping cost and dealer prep. dealer prep can be whatever they want to charge you. I have seen it as high as $500.
I talked to a dealer who advertised on Ebay and he said the bike I called about he would sell me for $6,200. I asked if that was out the door and he said no, out the door with the extra fees would be $6,950.

You're getting more than a fairing for 3G's. 1700cc's, 6 speed, cruise control, AND a fairing and sound system, plus full instrumentation.

The dealer in Gadsden had two when I was down last. Think they were in the high $14,000 range. I took pictures of the bikes as one was black and the other red. They were sitting side by side on the showroom floor.

I just saw a red one at my local dealer. I didn't ask about the price, but I did take a few minutes to look it over and sit on it. If it wasn't for that ugly red color and my lack of funds to buy a new bike, I'd probably have ridden it home right then. ;) http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

After close consideration of lots of pic's. . . I still prefer the look of my '06 1600 gone Solo/Darkside. I also like that its already paid for. But lets get back to the price. Including mods I have spent over $18k on my '06. The new 1700's are already packing some of those "extras" stock. Anybody have Dyno results?

Id like to know how they justify those prices here.
When I was shopping for my bike a few years ago, the prices in Montreal were about $3500.00 cheaper than in Toronto.

A lot of dealers have a parochial attitude when it comes to sales. They think that they are the only game in town. In larger populated areas, there is more competition and you can cut a deal. With the internet, that is coming everywhere. If they can't compete, they will go away and they should.

I've sat on a couple, feels like it's smaller in physical size than my 1600 nomad. Friends with me said it looks smaller in size than my bike with me sitting on it. Anyone notice the same thing?

The wheelbase is shorter as is the seat to bars. Some people are saying that if you get the corbin seat, it'll give a couple inches back in terms of room. It seems they wanted to make the Voyager/Vaquero more like the HD tourers in terms of ergos.

I dont buy the "bigger market in the U.S" argument. Why the $4000 price difference ?
Its no wonder 3 Kawasaki dealers in this area have closed and buying OEM parts from the U.S has become so popular.
How can you justify that a fuel pump in the U.S costs $400 and $700 in Canada.

Are there any tariffs or taxes that come into play with Canada?

Not sure on tariffs, taxes are 13% in Ontario. The fuel pump prices I quoted did not include taxes in the U.S or in Canada.

Jeff, that's my favorite [local] Kawasaki dealer. It was only a couple months ago when I looked at their Vaqueros. I swear they told me $17k, because I was thinking its price was comparable with Victory Cross-Country.
I'm convinced I remembered wrong ??? Maybe I was already adding on accessories in my head, like exhaust and XM ???

Yesterday, I visited with the dealer where I had bought my Nomad. Man, that red Vaquero is a very pretty bike. It's a shame it's not really a two up riding bike. If they offered the Voyager with that paint scheme or the Vaquero with a real touring seat and trunk, it would make me think for a few seconds. Anyway, the dealer told me that they are getting incentives from Kawasaki and there's 0% financing now, with loan ratios up to 120%. It sounds like you should be able to deal if the dealer wants to. There's no reason to pay list or nearly so.

The owner at jmp told me kaw offers $500 off if you demo ride . Dont know if that is the case or not but that blue & silver voyage is tempting . The red vaquaro is a hot looking bike but i like my tour pak & wont go without one agian .

They should have taken the cue from Victory with the Cross Country. Have a quick detachable topcase. I guess they didn't want to eat into Voyager sales.

I work for a Kawasaki dealer here in Mesa, AZ. I have had numerous conversations with reps at Kawasaki in Irving CA regarding upcoming accessories for the Vaquero. The wheels are tuning at Kawasaki for a quick release trunk option. Nothing in production yet, but hopefully we may see something out later this year if all goes well. Keep your fingers crossed. There will be some new accessories released this summer for sure. Look for solo seats, quick release fender luggage racks and a drivers backrest.

For all intents and purposes, the stock seat is already a solo seat. I would get a Voyager seat, passenger floorboards and the QD trunk...If I was so inclined to buy one...Either that or just get a Voyager. It's hard to beat that red paint job though.

I purchased the optional touring seat and quick release passenger backrest from Kawasaki. It makes 2 up riding a pleasure, plus I can ditch the backrest when she's not riding with me. As much as I would like a trunk, I just don't want it there ALL the time. Having the option of having one there when I need it would be perfect. Just my .02

The pillion on the optional seat doesn't look comfortable. The backrest looks low too. It's seems to be function following form. I don't ride two up a lot, but when I do, it's got to be better than a 10 minute seat meant to go the pub. As far as the trunk goes, a QD one would take care of that. It's nice to have one that can fit two helmets or a helment and a jacket. In fact it's nice if the panniers can hold a helmet too. I like ample and configurable storage. The other plus of the Voyager is ABS...But that red paint is nice. :)

The comfort of the touring seat and backrest was a concern of mine as well when I purchased them. I wanted my wife to be comfortable on long trips too. I'm happy to report that after a full day ride, not a complaint has been voiced from her. She actually likes the seat better than the Mustang seat I had on my V2K. As it turns out the rear pillion is actually roomier on this bike. The low height of the backrest doesn't seem to be an issue with her, but attaching a T-bag to it may be another issue :-/

Oh yeah, the red IS real nice...<g>

Jim, since you have some inside info on the Vaquero, are they going to release the bike in any other colors in the future? I know there are guys that like the red, but I have to disagree. I am not a fan of the red paint job. I could do with black, but that's way too common. Just wandering what the future looks like for it. Not that big of a deal though.

I'll be honest here. I like the Vaquero, I think it's a great looking bike. After I wrecked my Nomad, I realized I was in a position to buy any bike I wanted. The reason I didn't buy a Vaquero is because of the lack of accessories. If there was already a tourpak option available (I don't mean buy a generic tourpak and design a rack for it), I probably would have bought one. Kawasaki needs to get on the stick and offer add-ons for their bikes. The Voyager has been around for 3 years and the dismal selection of accessories is embarrassing.

My honey and I were shopping for a bike for her last weekend (well technically sizing up, I wouldn't buy a used bike from a dealer) and they had a black Vaquero there for $16,499.

Nice looking scooter, but that's a lot of dinero.

Word from Kawasaki is there will be no interruptions at this time. Honestly, they have a large inventory of parts and bikes in warehouses here in the US. We have had no trouble getting either...

I agree Scott....Harley is king of accessories. Nobody does it better. I'm sure they make more on accessories after the sale than they make on the bikes themselves. It's interesting though, after only 5 months of production, I think they have more accessories available for the Vaquero than they do for the 3 year old Voyager...and I think a lot more accessories are in the pipeline for the Vaquero.

On another note, are coming to bike night on the 20th?

I didn't mention Harley, Jim. I was simply bemoaning the lack of accessories from Kawasaki. You're probably right about more accessories for the Vaquero than the Voyager.

Sorry, can't make the bike night - I'm on call next week and have to work in the evenings.
