H.R. 904 would prohibit the Secretary of Transportation from providing grants or any funds to states or local governments to be used to create motorcycle-only checkpoints.

Im so POd by this because In GA they set up motorcycle only checkpoints on I-75 as Daytona Bike Week started for $70,000 in Fed grant money. They said it was part of a Homeland Security initiative.

HR 904 should be passed but probably won't. Need to write our senators and congressmen and urge them to pass this bill. If this should pass then states won't get any money from the federal government to set up these check points. The states or local municipalities would have to pay for the check points themself.

No flames from me; Im a 3/4 helmet guy with respectable pipes also. I just dont like them using fed $$$s to set up local traps for MC only with no particular cause. Particularly POd because they used GA as a funnel since anyone going to Daytona would use I-75 S. Just stuck in my craw. When asked by folks being stopped, the Officers replied that it was a "Homeland Defense initiative".

While I am a Vietnam vet, don't own a gun, don't believe in anyones God, and am a true blue Democrat Nomad owner....I have stock pipes and own four helmets, one of which is a Scorpion 1/2., two 3/4 and one full faced with removed chin guard (Nolan). I hate loud pipes and the arrogant rider types of which there seems to be plenty all over the world. I'm for the proposed H.R. 904 and I don't think motorcycle-only checks are the right way to go. I've also lived in a number of Arab countries and hold a number of the folks my good friends. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion about Muslims or Christians or any of those theories. Just my two cents.

Homeland Defense paid for a police helicopter in Lexington, Ky. Too much money wasted hand over fist. I have nothing against enforcing laws - but pulling over and hassling every motorcyclist is a buncha crap.
