Go to DennisKirk.com and type in your tire size and it will search and find what tires match.

The stock rear tire is an odd size and very hard to find, you can go with either a 180/60-16 or 160/80-16 with no trouble.

Also a 180/70 -16 works on the 05 and up. I have the Avon Cobras and they are great tires.

Next time I need tires I'll be going with the Cobras. A lot of good things said about them.

I'm putting Cobras on mine in another month or so as soon as things warm up and I can ride the bike to the shop. After reading all the tire threads and reviews I could the top 2 choices seem to be the Cobras and the Elite 3's. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but more seem to favour the Cobras so that is what I am going to go with.

Dunlop Elite 3s, made in USA and a great tire. Love the tread pattern. I only have about 2,000 miles on mine but can't detect any wear at all. Smooth riding and noise free. Bought mine from Dennis Kirk.

I'll go with the Cobra in front when the time comes.
For the rear I have been totally impressed with ride and performance of my Goodyear Assurance Triple tread 205/60-16 car tire. Awesome traction, even in nasty weather.

Is there something about mixing radials with bias tires? Radial in the rear and bias in the frt.. Or is that the other way around. I think my dealer said putting a radial in the rear with bias in the frt. was not a good idea. In fact a bad idea.

Are the Cobras only Bias?

They are radials. I had a Cobra radial on the front of my bike with the stock Bridgestone on the back for 2,000 kms before I changed the rear to a Cobra. I did not notice any adverse handling characteristics but I do not recommend or endorse doing what I did.

Radial rear and bias front is OK, the reverse is not. I've been running that combo for two seasons now (Elite III's).

This is the exact same set-up I've been running for a couple of years now, and I couldn't be happier. When my front Cobra wears out, It will be replaced with another one just like it.
This front tire is left over from when I had a full set of Cobras on the bike. After the rear wore out is when I went DarkSide with the GYTT. If your going to stay with MC tires, I would strongly recommend the Avon Cobras on a 1600. 180/70HR-16 rear and 150/80VR-16 front.

According to the Avon Tyre North American website, Cobras are radial only.

25,000 kms on my front Cobra and 23,000 kms on my rear Cobra. They appear to be about half worn.
