" Posi-Lock" product feedback?

Any of you folks have any experience/feedback on Posi-Loc/twist/tap electrical wiring products? They seem they would be pretty nice instead of the crimp type; etc.. I have used for years? They even have water proof kind.. They're a little $$; but the few used on bike projects the cost is moot point; IMHO anyway..

Never have tried them or heard any feedback on them, but I've read a few articles on them. Me personally, I prefer to solder and heat shrink all my connections.

Ive used them and had mixed results with them. Sometimes they make a poor connection and you have intermittent problems with them. I installed them on an enclosed trailer and they havn't been too bad there because the are protected from the weather and the harness is well secured. On a bike where vibration and more exposure to the elements is common Im not sure if Id use them. The original owner of my bike used them on the radio installation and I had problems with bad connections to the power and speakers. After replacing with soldered connections Ive never had a problem since.

i have used them and they work like a charm no problems with them and you can reuse

I have used that type for projects around the house. I feel they are a little bulky for use on cars or motorcycles.

I envy you guys that can solder.
I have tried and tried, finaly gave up. I either use connecters or sometimes just twist the wires together real tight and heat shrink them or tape them. http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif

That's how I was .... until....

I watched every youTube video there was. Pay particular attention to cleaning/tinning the iron's tip and using thinner-guaged solder. When I didn't have to hold the iron's tip directly on a piece of solder to melt it, it changed everything. It's still magic the way it just starts coating everything. I entered manhood!

Even though soldering is a little more time consuming it is neater in the end result. When your done the harness doesn't have bulges in it from the connectors under wraps of tape. I do use connectors as well, but mainly for connecting to switches, relays, bulbs etc. rarely for tying into wires. You may be able to get by with no problems in some warmer climates but here with the cold and heat and salt corrosion, butt connectors tend to hold moisture, especially when they are wrapped up with electric tape.

Soldering and Heatshrink. That is what I will use when butting 2 wires together. Just twisting them with electrical tape or MAR connectors just don't do it for me. Crimp ons for the Fuses and Relays are good. But that is the only time I won't solder. Of course, being an electronics tech for 30+ years you sort of get good at soldering.
