Just wondering about motorcycle nicknames. I haven't given my '04 nad a nickname yet. I was thinking about Spock, since it is a Vulcan (yes I'm a trekkie), but my wife doesn't agree. Let me know some of your nicknames to help spark some ideas.
I just refer to mine as my mistress.
Lucille is my red 2007's name.

I believe that most of us use a female name. Hollie rides with me.

If I felt compelled to name my motorcycle, it would be Black Sunshine. I don't, so I just call it "The Nomad", or simply Nomad for short.

I just call mine the bike or the Nomad.
I don't see a need to name my mechanical stuff.
Well, I did call the GMC truck I had a "Piece of sh*t".

What? You can't become one with the ambience of motorcycling without properly putting a name to your ride. Now get with it... Mine is named after a girl who died of cancer at the ripe old age of 12, August 14, 2001. She was a real biker babe.

My Nomand is the Black Beauty aka Beauty because my wife calls my truck F250 the Beast thus The Beauty and The Beast

I grew up reading Travis McGee books and my previous bike was a bit smaller and felt much smaller, so my '09 was dubbed "the busted flush"
I named my toilet John. I named my carpet Harry. Hello Mr. Window. I think I'll name my refrigerator Frosty. And I don't want to forget my table lamp, hello Sunny.

I'm not one for naming machines unless the fail to serve me as I see fit. Then I have all kind of names for them. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif My machines are known as The Bike, The Truck, The Boat and The Car. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Although the boat does have a name only because it was required for Coast Guard documentation. It's still reffered to as The Boat. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Things of beauty, grace and speed are usually given female names.
So I wouldn't name your Nomad Spock. Just my opinion. ;)
But now that I think about it, my wife's not.......oh forget it.

I just call my The Nomad, Nomad or The Bike. See no need to give it a name. If I called it by name it wouldn't come to me anyway. I feed it gas and oil and that seems to keep it happy.

I normally don't bother naming my stuff but the bike is the one exception. Its the deep meaningfull conversations I have with the bike, that make my wife jealous. ;) I keep hoping she will understand in time.

Was "Big Blue". Probably shouldn't have name with "Dream" in it around some of these guys. Might just have to go with "Crash".

Bessie, cause what else would you call a big black Kaw. Only mecanical thing "named" in our family is the boat. "Faster Daddy Faster" were the exact words my three year old shouted the first time we took it out, and it stuck.

Mine is named StrongBear/Thunderheart. She was given the first name by my BACA sister and the second by my sweetheart. Both are Native American and as such, have told me these are the spirits of my bike. And my sweetheart has renamed me Thundercloud. She says that when I'm annoyed, mad or concerned and am walking toward someone, it looks like a thundercloud moving toward someone. It's amazing what happens when you surround yourself with Native Americans.

Nick is a nick name for a guy named Nicholas.
Nick is an imperfection in the paint on your bike.
Nick is a measure of time. As in the nick of time.
Nick is a minor injury. As in it is just a nick.
Nick is what someone says when trying to get out of paying for the damages he did on your bike. I just nicked it.

My wife caught me saying good night babe once. So the bike's name could be Babe...I guess. My wife calls the bike Mistress. I would probably spend less time and money on one of those though. However, I did not share those thoughts with my wife.

I don't refer to the Nomad very often as anything other than The Bike, or The Nomad. I've told this story before but I'll tell it again. I had been "bikless" for a few years when my mother-in-law passed away in '07. She left my wife a small inheritance, and knowing how much I wanted to ride again and that I'd been "shopping" around for a bike,.... my wife told me to go buy the bike I wanted.
So although my wife "gave me" the money it was her mother who made it possible. So I do think of the bike as being named after her,....her name was Nancy but everyone called her Nan. So I do refer to the bike as "Nan" at times and in some circles.

Ditto (even my wife laughed at this one!).
Since my bike is red over red, her name is Scarlet (although my wife is jealously accustomed to calling her a harlot).

We bought the nomad in May of 2009. During that week my wife and I went to see the new Star Trek movie. On the drive home she said "Isn't the new bike a Vulcan? Then we should call it Lenny you know like Spock (Leonard Nimoy)". It stuck. So it's Lenny!

My wife named our bike "Kitt" after the Knight Rider car. Probably due to the black color and the sequential light bar...but mine is on the rear, not on the hood http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
It would be nice if it had the computer that could take over if necessary.

Really? Hmm. BD told me a similar story that involved you, but the thunder and cloud was the result of a night of beer and burritos.

My 05 is called Black Diamond or Diamond for short.
I lettered on the rear fender of my three Vulcans the name I gave each; the 2000 Classic Fi was 'Lulu', the 2002 Nomad was 'Lola' and the current 2003 Nomad is 'Lili'. Guess I'm prone to riding like 'L'.

Thanks for sharing everybody. I let my wife read this, and she liked the comment about it doesn't need a name because it won't come when you call it. Oh well, maybe I'll just give it a secret name and not tell her what it is. That'll teach her.

I call mine "FRONKENSTEEN"... from the movie "Young Frankenstein".. green and made from different parts.
I totaled it out 4 years ago, rebuilt it from parts off of a Harley, Suzuki, Honda, Chevy Suburban, and other bikes.
When I finished it I had a T shirt that said.. "IT'S ALIVE" http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

My friends call my bike the KawaTanker because of the auxiliary fuel tank I have in the trunk. I call my camper we pull with it The Clampet Mobile.
