Oh yeah I did that too and started looking elsewhere for other options. I got the pipes off ebay minus the shield for $190 with shipping and they were brand new.

Yeah not bad, only I thought the heat shield was going to be $35 not $110. I am going to get something, because it didn't take long for the pipe to look like hell.

I could use a rear heat shield on my V&H, the tabs that hold the gear clamp broke off. I made some new tabs and silver soldered them to the shield bit it did blemish the chrome finish a little bit.
