So, I'm sure someone has done this. I like the look of having driving lights on the highway bars. I know there are all kinds of options in the world. But, I was looking around at the local Wally World and the fog lights they have are anywhere from $15 and up. I know gadgets site has something on this process.
I just want to know if any of you have used the cheaper lights from your local store. You know the ones, $20-$30 for a set. Usually used for cars/trucks fog lights. And, how hard is it to actually do this add on?

Ive seen a lot of guys use those types of lights. Princess Auto, and Harbour Freight also have a good selection of those types of lighting.

I used the WalMart ones, and they died in less than a year. The rubber boot let moisture into one of them, and it burned out. And I don't think the bulb is replaceable. I intend to go with Chuckster's lights when I have the money for them.

I have had problems with the sockets. I believe the vibration is causing the sockets to go bad. They get incredibly hot also.

I have a set of the "Platinum Burners" from Walmart. They are little silver bullet 2" lights that run about $18 pair. I have them mounted on my crash bars. Right now, they aren't working I think the relay may be dead. They were working previously and I use them at night. During the day I use a pair of the CWI lights (similar to what Chuckster sells). The Walmart lights are nice because they illuminate low to the ground and give a nice triangle effect for increased visibility by others. I replaced the bulbs that came with them with some Philips spot units I picked up at Lowe's.

Thanks CJ, I like the triangle effect also. That's why I've thought about doing this. More visibility for me and for others to see me.
I bought some of those cheap lights and decided not to ugly up my beautiful Nomad and spulgered and bought to $125 a pair of driving lights (can't recall the brand name) and mounted them to my engine guard bars. I love the triangle of light. Really makes the bike noticeable in the daylight. Now if I could just get the Germany TUV to accept them.......
