My thoughts are now turning to holidays in 2011. My wife and I have toured California, Nevada, Arizona and in 2010 Utah and Colorado. We are planning to tour again for a couple of weeks in June 2011 and are looking for some suggestions on what States to visit. How about sharing your experiences, where to ride and why?

Do you ship your bike over from the U.K or rent one in the U.S. Just curious.
How about touring Ontario next year ?

Our National Rally is in the Smokey Mountains in June (Cherokee, North Carolina).

This is a big country with a lot of different things to do and see. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

Can you let us know what types of trips you like, and do you plan on riding a bike? Don't know if you do or not...

So... if you could, a bit more information would open the doors to a lot suggestions. ;)

HI John, haven't heard from you in a while. Glad your still around http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif. You should think about attending the rally............. Would love to meet you. It might not be like riding in the Rockies, or desert, but there is some supremo roads and scenery in that part of the country.

I would suggest Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. Some really beautiful country to ride in. All of the states have their great features but these four have a lot.

If you are flexible in dates I would suggest Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana in September after labor day...less traffic because school is in session and the weather is great.

Very diverse (desert, forest, mountains, coastline , nice weather, you get it all). Some fantastic low traffic highways that run alongside water of all types. If this is of interest let us know and we can suggest many roads and landmarks.

Seems you like the western part of the United States, but haven't toured the Pacific Northwest. June is a lovely time of the year to tour the NW states. Obviously I'm a bit partial to Idaho because I live here, but I also know that Oregon has some fantastic riding as well. The PNW is definitely the place to ride if you like mountain roads to ride. Lots of great places to see and eat. Be prepared for nice weather in Idaho and eastern Washington and Oregon. Once you get to the western part of Oregon and Washington, make sure you've got good raingear! There's a reason it's so green there. In Idaho in June, expect temperatures to be cool in the mornings and reaching the 80's during the day.

I'd recommend touring Wyoming, Montana, Alberta, British Columbia and Washington probably starting in the second half of June.

Why these states and provinces, mainly because of national parks and great scenery such as Yellowstone NP [WY], Glacier NP [MT], Banff NP and Jasper NP in Alberta, Kootenay Rockies, and Tofino in British Columbia, Olympic NP [WA] and North Cascades NP [WA].

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Elvis
