Three years ago today we took ownership of our first bike, the '99 Nomad. I had never owned a motorcycle or ridden other than dirt bikes back in my teens. When we saw the bike in my buddy's garage on Veterans Day of 2007, we fell in love with it and we took ownership of the bike with 7.2K on it.
Fast forward to today and the bike is almost where I want it and has 56K on it. We have ridden many miles and had thousands of smiles thanks to the many members of this board we have met and ridden with along with my Long Rider buddies here locally.
Thank you to all the KawaNOW bretheren that have made our experiences with the group such a pleasure. I hope that we will see all of you on the road at some time and continue to smile the entire time.

Congratulations! That is impressive to start off with such a big bike. I got my very first bike in June of 07 but it was 800cc. I had my share of drops, etc. and it was probably too big for me for a first bike. However, I wanted something I that would last me a while. So I can really appreciate your accomplishment.

Congrats Ron. It will be 3 years for me in April. I too bought a Nomad for my first ride. Be safe.

Wow, Ron and Mitch , I can't even imagine a Nomad for a first bike.
I rode from the 60's to the 80's then got out of biking till 2006.
I started on a Bridgestone 90cc in the 60's
When I got back into it in 2006 I bought a 650 Yamaha Silverado. Cindy abd I had some great travels on that bike but it was a little small for two-up riding.
Looked around and in 2007 decided the Nomad was the way to go.

Ron, nice that you thank the folks in KawaNow.
On the flip side of the coin, you and the Taminator have added alot of positives to the KawaNow experience for many of us. Thanks for making many of your miles pleasurable miles that we shared with you.

Congratulations on three years of pleasurable and safe riding. I also recently started riding. My first bike is the '04 Nomad which I bought in 2008. I have had one crash but I was riding a friend's VROD. I would have cried if I crashed this beautiful bike. lol

I haven't forgotten meeting you and Tammy on the Kawoleen ride Nov. 1, 2008 for the first time. I didn't realize that you had only had your Nomad for a year at that time. Time and the miles sure do fly when you're having fun doesn't it?

Ain't life grand when you ride a Nomad!!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Here's to many more years of pleasurable riding for all of us here on this forum and out there on the road.
I started on a small bike, a Virago 535, after a 14 year hiatus away from riding (couldn't ride much with small children and a full time job) , and then moved up to a Virago 1100. I bought Brian his Nomad in 2001 and the first time I rode her, I wanted a Nomad also. I had to wait 2 more years to by my Ruby and the love affair started and continues to this day.

I'll never forget meeting you and Tammy in West Virginia. That was a fun way for you to learn how to ride in the mountains. Sorry you missed the black bear! I'm very happy you guys came on board and I look forward to many more miles and smiles with you through the years.

Almost 50K miles in 3 years, that's a great mileage on a great bike.
Over-confidence may creep up in the fourth year. The following is an excellent read for all riders:

What stage are you at? Keep the shiny side up.
By the way, I can see your smile from here. Congrats on your anniversary.
I feel your joy. Three years for us this month. Similar story, just without the buddy involved. Love at first sight on the Nomad, though. Congratlations! And may you enjoy another trouble free three years ( or more http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif)
Congratulations !! I, too, will be at three years in February. My Nomad was my second bike. Although, sometimes, I get Goldwing fever, I keep coming back to my 2007 Nomad. I'm here to stay in Nomad heaven. LOL.
