Just added some from PHCustoms. I like them, going to be a big help this winter. Warmer feet and knees. I think they could use one or two more straps where it runs along the engine frame, but it holds up well to the winds at 60mph.

That is why I bought the Airlite chaps last year they are one piece. Work great.

Yeah those are nice, but these ran me only $50. Quality is good.
On a serious budget, so I'll be buying the PHCustoms as well. $58.50 with shipping. Just haven't sat down long enough to click the buttons.

Ive had the Airlites for a few yrs and they are working very well. Good quality but pricey at $90+ depending on pockets, etc.

If you have noted MPG's with any detail, you may find these bar covers get you a little bit more. It seems I do. It doesn't look like it makes any sence, but I believe go gain a little with them on.
Another bonus is added rain protection. My boots and lower legs stay completely dry in most wet weather riding conditions.

That is true enough. A few weeks back I went with Hween (Gwyn) to get a ice cream over on the far side of the Kanc. We were caught in a little rain on te way back, and when I pulled in behind other roders at the top for a smoke i was far drier than all of them.
They made comment on that http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Got the Airlites as a Christmas gift from daughter and her boyfriend last year. Put 'em on your Christmas list.

Another vote here for the Airlites. I had Desert Dogs on my 02 and they let too much air in at the frame rails. The Airlites one piece design are easy to put on, block the most wind, and come with a nice holder to put them in that fits in the bottom of your saddlebag nicely.

I have got to get some so I can cut down on the winter winds when I ride in December, January, February and March. April should be warmed up enough to ride without them.
Mac I can't see how they could cause an increase in MPG's. I'm with you in it doesn't make sense. Maybe they do, just don't figure.

I have the airlite chaps, this is my second season using them.
They have NOT increased my MPG it is the same.

+1 on the airlites. I have not noticed an improvement on gas mileage though. If it is slight I probably would not notice it anyway because my mileage varies too much from tank to tank. I had it in for service about a month ago and they adjusted the idle up and I am definitely noticing the increase in fuel consumption now.

It is very slight. I spent some time eaking out every little bit, but didn't expect the desert dawgs to do anything but take away MPG's. At one point my 06 16, was around 46/48 MPG's.
My best guess is the bar covers streamline the bike in general which we ride with in the bubble, and make a cleaner line thru wind.
I tend to ride out a full tank at one time. If a bike is started and stopped and re started in the same day on the same tank of gas you simply kill MPG's.
Now I can't prove this, and am no engineer, so I just think so.
I didn't expect to gain MPG's adding a TFI either, but it happened twice. The first time was impressive, on my 01 15. I roide the USA to Cal stock and in Cal modded the 01 with V&H baggers, the Cadman kit duel filter set up, and a TFI. The rear tire was one size larger too, as both tiores needed replacing in Cal. That rear tire was a good part of better MPG's no doubt.
I also switch to full syn oils in the engine and final drive. I went back east with more power and better MPG's with the same load.
I went from apx 32/35 MPGs or having the yellow light come on at 137 to apx having the yellow light come on at 150 consistantly.
I only rode the 06 stock for 3 days, but it was used and had 1,314 miles on it. On day 3 it got the same treatment as above with out a new rear tire of course.
Some refining of the TFI got me into that 46/48 MPG's. What took some is the Dunlop SP 5000, but I still get 42/44. First flicker of the yelow light can be 187 and more miles if I ride easy non-stop, or stopping only long enough to suck down a smoke. Then the engine is still at full warm almost.

I made my own....
$5 for leather like material (pleather), enough to make 5 sets.
I have to say it was quite rewarding to whip em up and put them on.... figure that left more money for other accessories!
Really - it's one of the easiest custom projects you can do for your bike.
(or you could even get your wife involved, to help with the project!)
http://s2.images.proboards.com/tongue.gif Mine didn't, I had to sew em myself.
But I had them done in 3 hrs, and that included the trip to the store for fabric. I needed them for a road trip the next day - 3 years later and the first set is still going strong!

I have saddle bgs made of that, and I bought them in 1999. They still look new, but I did have to sew a rotten seam back up. Oil ate the threads in time.
The desert dawgs I have now are all that's left of my stolen 01, and because they were not on it. They were on it the day I bought the bike used.

I have the Airlites as well and can get through my 20 mile commute to work fairly comfortably down to around 40 degrees.... any colder than that and I feel it, but I've loved the Airlites so far. Easy on and off and they look great too.

I have had my Airlites for 2 years now and are one of the best add ons for my nad. The quality is top notch. What I really like about them is the hot air from the motor will actually swirl around your feet and keep them feeling nice and warm.

I have this guys product on my bike, and like the quality and top notch service.
They really help cut wind & cold. You can get custom embrodery done on them also, which is kinda cool. I didn't bother with that.
Just another option. http://www.sagebrushdesigns.com/index.html
