18K miles of Dynabeads- Pic

I think it was last year, one of our members swore off Dynabeads because of perceived damage they were causing to the inside of the tire.

My front tire had 24k+ miles on it when I swapped it out this weekend. I had put Dynabeads in at about 6k miles.

The black stuff is the dirt. You can see that the original 1 ounce of Dynabeads visually overwhelms the dirt. If anything, the beads seem to have polished the inside of the tire.

Looks like they did their job. I don't see any damage to the tire.

I can't imagine how they could damage the tire. Thousands of people use them without any issues.

Dynabeads are little things that you put in your tires to balance them. You put one or two ounces in your front tire and two ounces in your rear tire. You no longer need any weights as these take the place of the weights. As you ride the beads distribute themselves in the tire and your ride is balanced and smooth. You pour them in through the valve stem.

Mine looked the same when I changed my back tire last month. I took them out and used them in the new tire.

The only drawback I've heard about the Dyna beads is moisture causing them to clump. I've seen some pretty drippy air lines at service stations, anyone had this kind of problem?

No but I air my tires with my own air compressor.

I would think the friction of the moving beads in the tire would remove any water that might clump them up. I doubt this would be a realistic concern.

I know what you mean, I think some people just like to worry about things.

never did understand why some people said it cause the inside to the tire to wear. I ve known people that have used them for years and never had a problem.

you are right they are ceramic per dynabeads web site.

I know a guy that is "Frugal" so Frugal that he wouldn't spend the money for dynabeads but used 2 oz of plastic air soft BBs in his tire and they work, of course 2 oz of plastic BBs is a lot more volume than dynabeads but 2 oz is 2 oz........... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I think "they" claim they will not "clump" because they are ceramic.
