Hopefully not just another seat thread.
I don't like to sit upright or to have to lean forward. I prefer to lean slightly back. I'm kinda particular after a few back operations. My other bike has a mustang seat, grasshopper backrest, and barons pullback risers.

While that is more comfortable than my Nomad is currently, I'm shooting for even better. When I changed my previous bikes seat out for the mustang, the mustang moved my seating position probably an inch or two higer and the same distance forward onto the tank. The seat itself was more comfortable than the stock one, but I didn't really care for the position change from the mustang. It tends to cramp me up a bit at 6"2' and 255 lbs.

The risers will transfer over, but I need a bit of help with the seat and backrest.

What position difference and comfort difference is the factory gel seat over the standard seat?

Mustang seat will likely be out, due to the negative position changes for me anyway. I am already up on the tank with the stock seat.

What other seats are out there, if any, that will maybe move you back and down a bit? If there are any like that, what backrests are there to go with them?

Am I missing anything?

I can't say anything about the seat but the backrest I have found the most comfortable is the one I currently have on my Nomad is the Utopia. It cost a little more but can be adjusted in an infinite number of ways.

Anybody have any feedback on the factory gel seat?

Sorry no feedback on factory gel. But we are about the same size, I'm 6'2" or so and tub in at 275 lbs. I would develope a very sore spot in my tail bone area on longer rides. I had a local lady thin some of the foam away from the back/lower part of the stock seat. That moved me back and took the pressure point off my tail bone. It put the pillion seat into my lower back so I took that seat off and cut off about a 1/2" of just the plastic pan, folded over the cover and stapled it up. Worked out great. Sits me back and lays me back slightly more then stock. It's no RUSSELL but will do for now.

I don't think I know of anyone who has bought one. One thing about gel seats, they absorb heat like crazy and being dense, they stay hot for a long time. That may or may not be a concern to you. It's a real concern where I live.

Oh yes its a concern here too. Kinda hard to carry around ice in your pockets to offset the absorbed heat. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif So that really knocks the gel seat out of the running.

What seats are some of you "larger" (6"2" or bigger) gents riding?
