Looking at turning the valve stems 180 degrees to make access easier. Is all you have to do is loosen the two nuts or do you have to let out the air in the tires or is this something that I shouldn't do at all? Any cautions I need to consider?

Loosen the nuts, the top one is a jam nut, rotate the stem and retighten. If you lose any air (I didn't), reinflate to your normal pressure.

Thanks for asking that question Carolina. I started to ask the same question last night but didn't want to appear dumb.

Scott, any problem turning them when you loosen the two nuts?

No. It really isn't a complicated procedure.

Thanks Scott, I didn't know if it was a problem getting the valve stem inside the rim to turn or not.

When I had my present rear tire mounted I asked my mechanic to turn the stem to the high side of the bike to make it easier to check on the kick stand. The rear brake disc got in the way on my '01. I don't know if the '07 is different, but if you don't run into the same
problem, please post it.
Thanks for your time

On my first rear tire change I turned it, the brake rotor is a little in the way. But i can deal with it. Before I used to have one of my sons sit on the bike and hold it upright while I check it.

I bdid mine with air and lost no air. The one thing to consider is to test the bottom nut BEFORE you loosen it. Meaning to feel it by tightening slightly, just to feel it in terms of how tight it is.

Then loosen it swing the valve around easy like, a smooth fluid motion, and retighten the bottom nut as it was.

Getting it overly tight will cut the rubber seal inside the wheel, and then it probably will leak real fast.

Thanks for the info Mac, I hadn't thought of that but it does make sense.
