Relay for Driving lights

On the 1700's is there a blue/yellow striped wire in the headlight bucket to trip the relay to allow the driving lights to then work? I know thw 1500's and 1600's that is the wire used to trip the relay.

When I hooked mine up all I found in there was a yellow wire with constant power and another that was for ground. I forget that ones color.

Thinking if not, maybe the trip wire could be tied onto the low beam side headlight wire which should do the same thing to trip the relay.

I'd use the running lamp circuit in the headlight bucket to trigger the relay.

I just use a seperate switch. I turn em on when I want em on and I turn em off when I want em off.

I used the spare connectors under the seat to power the relay. It's hot when the key is on Accessory, so any time the key is on the lights are on. I then tied a fused wire from the battery thru the relay and under the tank to the lights. I mounted the relay under the side cover.

Going to give it a try on the low side of the headlight, as I would like them to only come on after the engine starts. If they are hooked into the acc line then they will be on as soon as the key is on.

If I want them to be on even when the high beam is switch on, I think I can just run a jumper to the relay from that lead as well.

If you do that you will end up with both the high beam and the low beam on at the same time unless you put diodes in the jumpers.

Or you could trip the relay from the input side of the headlamp high/low switch.

FWIW - Manual lists:

Electrical Accessory Connectors

Yellow +
Black/yellow -

Under Seat
Brown/Blue +
Black/Yellow -
Then a caution not to connect more than 15 amps or 155w to the system.

So will this work for the 2009 1700 Nomad? Are the wires the same color codes? Should I use an inline fuse for the power source tap for the sake of safety?

If you do that you will need a blocking relay to prevent the high beam from being on all the time.
