My 2000 Nomad was backed into this morning. The bike was parked with the wheel turned to the left. The guy backed into my bike and pushed it 2' The fender is damaged and the lower wind deflector. I thought that was all until I pulled off and the bike is tracking. When the front end is streight the bars are turned 1" off center. I got to call there ins company to look over the bike. At least I was not on the bike.

Darn the bad luck, glad you weren't on it.
What part of the bike made contact with the other vehicle??

That is really terrible news to hear. Probably hit the fender and tire plus the lower. Did it turn the bike over?

I went for a ride last week or the week before and parked my bike to the right and behind our car. Had to go move the car and told myself don't forget the bike is behind you. Well I started backing and just in the right time I happened to remember. I bet I was within and inch of hitting the bike. It would definitely have damaged my bike a lot. That will never happen again.

I was one of my subs work van. He hit the front right side fender. He pushed it 2' and it was in gear. The bike did not fall over I just hope the forks or neck arent bent.

Thanks for everyone's condolences. I road the bike to my office and the top of the triple tree is about 1/2" out of square and the bike pulls to the right. I think it may be bent forks or the neck. I just got the nomad 3 months ago after a 27 year biker less drought. I am waiting on the Ins company to call me.

The triple tree may be just twisted a bit, If you remove the front wheel and fender you should be able to line the forks up agin after loosening the triple tree clamps as long as things arn't kinked or bent.

My sub has insurance and I just talked with someone with his insurance company. I hope I can find a pro in Raleigh NC. Some of the so called pro's at the shops I have been in need more training . I pulled it in the garage and I had my wife to watch the front end she said I looked like my front tire was leaning to one side.

You need a pro, but that might not be a dealer. Tuff call. If you take this on by yourself, fix the ft wheel straight up by any means you can and loosen all the triple tree bolts. Give the handel bars a good yank to straight. snugg everything and test drive real easy, go do this untill you get tracking back, never going fast!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then with help lock the ft brake and have yer buddy pull the suspention down from ahead of the bike as you jump down and push. See if rebound works ok.

If any binding happened something expensive is bent.

With ease this is a hidden type of damage and a real pro, not some dealer wanna be tech kid should go over every detail.

If this is 2 tone paint that fender will be around 500 bucks just for that!

The lower bracket is dead soft, don't fix it yet, but if you can bend it by hand and the chrome stays ok that part is easy as it gets.

Bill out for all new parts, use that advantage because you can. There will be other losses in terms of money you will pay, for just making the claim.

There is a great shop here just outside of Charlotte. They did my bike after it was hit. They only missed the delivery time by one hour.

If you can't find one you trust up there just ask and I'll get you their info.

My Nomad had a Toyota induced ouchie at 5,000 miles. One month 3 grand and a broken leg later it was all better, that was 20,000 miles ago. Get it fixed by the best tech you can find it will give you peace of mind as you ride.

There are a bunch of places, many on the west coast. This was the closest I could find.

Sorry about your bike. Agree with the problem in Raleigh, I live there. I have only had the local dealer change my rear tire, not sure if I would trust them with your kind of problem. Bought my bike in Durham from a group that appeared to know what they were doing. Too bad they went belly up. Let us know who you got to fix it, and how well they did.

I had the estimator look at the bike today. It doesn't look bad the fender is bent but something is wrong with the front end. My plan is to take it to the dealer for a estimate and do the work my self. That is if the ins co don't total it. It's a waiting game for now.

Let us know what happens. Hope you get up and running soon. One of my VRA buddies gave me the name of a guy who works on MC in Zebulon name of Dave Sherwood. If you get in a bind fixing it yourself, you could possibly call him.
