Hi guys,

Has anyone moved their headlight and/or their signal lightbar forward?
I've added a harely fairing to the mad, and would like to add a pair of running lights to the signal bar.

as it currently sits, they are too close, but if I could shift it forward an inch or two i'd be great.

I got a great deal on a pair of running lights from princess auto for $20, which beats the price of a set of motorcycle specific ones (assuming I can mount em).

I'm not worried about the wiring, they will be on a seperate fused relay from the battery.

The alternative would be to try and make something similar to the CWI brackets - bu considering I'd be bending aluminum for that, it would start to look a bit cheap.

Thoughts?
B.

That's exactly what I did. Cut a piece of flat steel about 3 x 5 in, drilled 2 sets of holes to match the light bar and the original mounting holes and bolted it right up. I moved mine forward about 2 in.

I moved mine forward about 1 inch to accomodate large lowers without holes.

I just made extensions for the original bracket. I drilled two holes an inch apart on two separate pieces of metal. I added those to the bracket.

The metal just needed to be able to handle the weight. I painted the metal black but I doubt anyone would notice anyway. For that same reason, no pictures would show the work.

Same here - took some flat plate - bent it same as factory - drilled new holes - everything moved ahead about 1 1/2" - painted black and you can't even tell its there.

Thanks Guys, looks like that will be the next project.

Did you move just the signal lights, or did you also bump the headlight forward?

I did not move my headlight. I just trimmed the faring out a little to fit.

I solved the problem by adding a 1/8" nylon washer under the lamp post, and that raised the light just enough for my lamp housings to clear the fairing.

That's why I always say mine is slightly modified!

Slightly different subject: I added auxiliary headlights to the stock lightbar using conduit clamps (thanks Gadget). The stock lightbar is apparently mounted using rubber isolators causing the lights to bounce a little on the highway. Can you take those rubber isolators out and mount the light bar solidly? Or maybe use large fender washers to make the isolators a little less bouncy?
