I may be out of line by mentioning this, but other groups sometimes have Tech days or Tech Sessions. I would be interested in attending some, whether it be at a rally or at someone's garage.

There are numerous technical people in Kawanow that could provide a lot of good info. It would also be a good way to get together and share common interests. We may want to come just to see old friends and have a good time.

Does anyone feel the same? I thought maybe a poll might help see if there is any interest. I figure the poll could run 5 days. Some of the Kawanow leaders or members might want to conduct a poll with different options.

Feel free to vote.

Sounds like a great idea, but I don't know what they would teach that you could just ask on here or look up on gadgets page.

That would be a good topic at one of our National rally's for some hands on experience. Were all so spread apart, that you could only do this in small groups at other times. But feel free to check our tech boards or ask any questions you have,

I would ride (within reason) to help someone with a project on their bike, even if it is to only change the oil. This might be the only way for someone like me to meet some of the other members near by.

Just my .02

I didn't mean to be snide, but we all live far apart. I have most of the new england guys at this point. I know I am missing one of them, but that will happen I expect.

Good idea Bill. It would work well in small local groups or maybe 3 - 4 hours at Regional or at the National Rally. If my memory serves me right, it was planned for 1/2 day Tech Session or 1/2 day free time at the Custer National Rally last year. I think everybody decided to use it as free time to either rest or go do their own thing. I voted yes for the 100 mile option. Even if we didn't cover a whole lot of technical ground, it would be a good get together.

One of the best group of guys I know I met because of our common interest in our trucks. this is a great idea.

I voted yes to "within 100 miles from home", but a weekend 200-400 miles away would be OK too. I enjoy getting together for whatever reason, and it's always good to see how someone else would go about doing the same job. Hey, that might have an easier way. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Thanks for all the comments and voting participation. Looking at the survey, it seems there is strong interest in Tech Session get togethers. Especially if the event were to be held in close proximity to the member’s location. However holding Tech events at Rallys did not get much support.

It is true that we get all the good info we need on Kawanow or Gadget. It may be more about the social part than the actual tech work. However as one member pointed out, it would be interesting to see how some other members installed their bling.

I have a 2400 sq ft shop about 20 miles south of Fort Worth, which would be a good place to host a tech session. Cheryl and I even have some limited couch space, if some needed to stay overnight. I will talk with some of the South Central Group Members at our upcoming Talimena Ride, to see if there might be some interest for holding a Tech Session in maybe early November.

Capital idea Bill. When I was in the Honda Magna group (magnaownersoftexas.com), we used to get together in someone's garage at least twice a year for a "wrenching" session. Learned alot from those sessions. If it can be planned and organized, I think many would stand to gain alot from such sessions. Maybe the regional leaders can facilitate and organize?

Also, I think Todd and Amy are planning on having tech and wrenching sessions at the National next year. Also, they are having a swap meet where anyone can bring a Nomad related item that they can sell or swap. They could even UPS stuff in and out.

Thanks, I think it would be fun. Our South Central Leadership are experts at organizing stuff. If they are interested, we would appreciate them facilitating and organizing something like this in the future.

I would love to ride to help someone work on there bike when I was in the street rod club that is how we would have our meetings but we were all local but if anyone wants to get something going I have 2 garages tools and a bike rack your welcome to come here are I will go somewhere else. I voted for 100 miles but 2 or 3 hundred wouldn't matter.

Good idea BillMac. After thinking about it, I took the liberty of setting up what will be called... "KNOW" sessions... KawaNOW Nomad Operator Wrenching" sessions. Check the KNOW session thread for more details. Feel free to get involved.

Thanks for the idea Bill.

For folks like me, seeing something done or modified is 10000% better than trying to do it by myself while looking at a manual/instructions. Heck, I would ride 500 miles to have someone help me install my Cobra Fuel Mod!!

And, what a good excuse for a ride.
