The wife and I met a buddy for a ride today up in the N Ga. / N. Carolina mountains today.
Did almost 300 miles...
Mind fart.... We stopped for gas and to take a break about 10:30 this morning. I filled up with gas, set the pump handle back where it belonged and went to start the bike.... It was dead as it could be!!
I got off and walked around the bike to see is there could be a simple reason for it not to start.... nothing.
Got back on the bike, lifted up the kickstand.... NOTHING!
Checked the kill switch and it was on.

Then I looked down and saw the key in the gas cap! Seems I tried to turn on the cap to start it.. ::)

Talk about felling like a total ass!!... After 46 years riding that's the first time I have ever done the gas cap start-up mind fart thing!

Talk about feeling like a dumb ass!!!

Damn, it's a bitch to get old..........<GMAO>

Great idea Mike; combination gas cap/ignition. When can we get one?! ;) http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I have had a problem with the gas cap operating correctly with scantily clad young women around. I'm sure it wasn't old age.... http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

That's about as bad as when I drove nearly 100 miles on my way to the deer lease and realized I had left my rifle home. Brain farts do happen, especially at our age. :-[ http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I forgot my bullets a couple years ago when i went moose hunting, luckily I picked some up in the town nearby. The general store stocks them because apparently Im not the only one with brain farts. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Never done that one yet but I have done some dumb stuff in my life. Good for a laugh though.

Mike, you actually came up in two different conversations today.

Once with Kudzu, he was going to go riding with us. But when we went to leave the meeting spot his bike wouldn't do anything. Ended up being his battery.

Second was when I met up with Bob Kane this afternoon.

Go figure. Oh, and nobody had a bad word to say.

Must be God's way of telling us not to take ourselves too seriously.

Been there done that. Left my keys in the saddle bag lock last year at Laconia Bike Week, and just walked away for several hours. I look in all my pockets for the keys to go home with and they were gone! Till I looked at the saddle bag doors. Anyone could have seen them, I am sure other people did.
