I thought I'd get this started so folks who attended the Cortez rally can check in and let us know they made to home (or their next destination) safely.

I'll go first...

I left Cortez at about 08:30 this morning and took a side trip to Farmington, NM then south through Gallup and Zuni Pueblo NM to Pinetop AZ. I am spending the night here and will leave in the morning and should be home by noon.

I left Cortez about 4:45 or so this morning. I took a detour to ride through a very cool canyon near Moab that added a lot of extra miles, but was well worth it. I then stopped at Jared's place in Orem, shagged down another Nomad rider north of SLC on I-15 (we chatted for quite awhile).... I think he will join us here....let's hope.

Anyways....I finally arrived in Pocatello about 4:45 pm...twelve hours later....but safe and sound....no parking lot incidents! Headed for Missoula tomorrow.... http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif! Over 2200 miles ridden so far since I left home last Friday... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I arrived home about 5:30P this afternoon 1700 miles total. Came back on US 160 and then 285 on into the Denver area. Joel and I parted ways just south of Fairplay. Sure was good to see everyone again and meet some of you for the first time. The rides and social times were fantastic. For those that missed it, Monument Valley ride was the best, although we could have done without the sand storm! Many thanks to the organizers, Joel and Jarad - very memorable.

Made it home about 30 minutes ago. The ride up til Colorado Springs was fabulous. Great mileage. Hit Colorado Springs and I literally racked up 40+ minutes of sitting time on the highway (confirmed on garmin). It was hot and pretty much stop, move 20 feet, stop, move 20 feet for the better part of 3 to 4 miles. As soon as I hit Limon, stopped and topped the tank for the last time and drank 2 bottles of water and most of my water bottle I carry. Spent about 30 minutes there cooling off.

I had fantastic mileage up til that stop. One tank of just shy of 47 mpg, next was just shy of 48 mpg and from just west of Colorado Springs to Limon was over 52 mpg. I thought the stop and go traffic and then racing 70+ mph after that would have killed the mileage. As luck would have it, I hit a wind that made Monument Valley's wind look like a cream puff. I had less than an 1/8 of a turn on the throttle for the better part of 45 miles just to maintain 70 mph. As fast as it hit it was gone and about 20 degrees cooler.

I forgot to mention that there wasn't a cloud in the sky from Cortez all the way to the White Mountains of AZ, which is where I am now. I did have a pretty nasty headwind from St Johns to Pinetop, but NO DUST! The road from Zuni Pueblo to Hwy 191 in AZ was deserted, I only saw one car and two bikes in over 50 miles.

I stopped at Four Corners HD in Farmington and as I was leaving, our new friends from Arkansas pulled in. The guys who stayed last night know what I'm referring to.

Forgot to mention it, but I left Cortez Wednesday morning about 7:30 and arrived home at 1:00.
Immediately went to work. Great times all!

Ken and I both took a very nice, scenic route home. Except for the heavy wind, it was very enjoyable.

This even was great! It was nice to finally meet everyone!

Glad to hear you are having fun JT. Hey by the way, I thought you said you were going to push your Nomad down by the harley's before starting instead of door. :)

I made it home safe and sound. Only had 188 miles today and the only problem was US 60 was down to one lane between Salt River Canyon and Globe and there was a 20 minute wait for the escort vehicle.

It was 90 degrees at 10:00 AM in Globe and it's 107 here at the house. The reason I didn't ride all the way home yesterday was to beat the heat and traffic. Well I beat the traffic. :(

1782 point something miles round trip for this rally.

I made it to Missoula about 5:00 pm today. OMG....I have a new favorite road. Hwy 93 from Arco, ID to Salmon, ID is simply spectacular. If I had only one road to ride for the rest of my life...this mightr have to be it. The views are outstanding (pics later)....and the road itself is motorcycle riding nirvana... ;) http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif! It is good all the way to Missoula, but it is a bit different after you get north of Salmon...more mountainous.

On this trip, I got pics with me and my bike at the Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Montana state signs! I'm over 3000 miles for the trip now.

I'm heading to Wenatchee, WA tomorrow and meeting up with Delivery58 (Vinnie) and Duneseven (Randy) for some miles and lunch along the way, as they live in Coeur D'Alene and Spokane respectively and I'm going right through both. I should be home Sunday moring if all goes well. I'll keep ya posted! This has been one of the coolest trips ever.....even if I did have to limp through most of it... ::)!

I'm lucky - I get to ride that 93 Highway whenever! :) Of course if you see the rest of 93 you realize you just rode the best part of it. Glad you had a good ride.

Charles and I left Wednesday morning and had super riding weather all the way home, arriving about 3PM. Thanks to Joel and Jared for all the work putting together a great time. Also thanks to all who attended, it was really lots of fun.

Great to see that everyone has made it home safe and sound. Enjoyed the pictures. If only we could have weather half as good next week as yours was.

Made it to Wenatchee...home tomorrow if my bike starts. It started crappy in Pocatello, but I just thought it was bad gas. It choked and sputtered real bad starting up this morning in Missoula. I wonder if I have some plugs starting to foul or something.... :-/. Once I get it fired up and running....it runs and starts great all day long. Anyways....as soon as I get home its going if for a major 30k service and good going over before any more trips.

I met Delivery58 and Duneseven as planned for brunch...both good guys. I'll post some pics once home and settled in.

I made it home @ 1400 hrs today. Nice two day ride from Cortez with no problems. Up and over Wolf Creek Pass the "Ride Across The Rockies" was going my way. I had bikes next to me for 35 miles!!! I stopped and was told by an Official that 2800 bikes were in the "tour"

SW KawaNow folks - thank you for the good times.

Bill,

Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound. From the sounds of it, eastern Nebraska is pretty wet.

Made it to South Dakota safely. Excellent gas mileage, mostly downwind. Lost my wallet getting here and that of course is somewhat of a problem. I will post some advice on that as soon as I get some time. Not looking forward to going back into the heat in Arizona later in the month. So far I am having a good ride.

Made the last leg of my 10 day journey today from Wenatchee to my house in the rain, but arrived safe and sound about 10:30 am!
Thanks to everyone for making it a great experience and to Joel and Jared for putting it all together. Can't wait to do it all again soon....and hope to see some of you in Kalispell in August!

Started home from Gunnison on Sat. Hwys. 50, 550, 62, 145, 141, 90, 89 and a few more I don't remember. The wind was blowing sand drifts across the road as we closed in on Page. Ended the day at Page, AZ (450 miles).

Sunday fought the wind 300 miles on the way home.

Took a short detour to New Mexico on Thursday. Three beautiful mountain passes on the way. 2010 miles for the whole trip.

Also, on Sat. morning about 8:45 AM I noticed two Nomads parked on the North side of Hwy 50. I could swear Pronghorn was one of them. Was it????????

A great time was had by all.

I got home at 2:30 pm on Friday. 2400 miles total. Other than cross winds all the way down I-40 I had no problems. Leaving in the morning for the South Central Rally.

It sounds like all the chickens made it back home to roost. Other than Kris' La Grand "incident", no damages or injuries.

I'd say that was a successful rally, folks.

It was a pleasure to see old friends again and meet some new friends.
