Louder Horn

Can someone recommend a louder horn for the 2009 Nomad than the stock one that basically just goes 'beep'. It is not very effective. I saw a previous post with a horn mounted on the engine guards, but I was thinking of one that could fit in the same place as the original. Any leads is appreciated, as always.

Check out the Stebel Nautilus. It fits on the 1600's in place of the stock horn. Needs some rewiring using a relay due to the current draw. Would probably fit the 1700's as well.

I picked up a horn at AutoZone and just replaced the stock horn with it. Same mounting and wiring. It's louder than the stock horn, but I'm guessing not as loud as an air horn. This new one works for me.

I've got a Nautilus on my bike. I took off the chrome cover and zip tied it to the fram under the right side cover. Lots of room in there and it fits nicely :) Scares the hell outta cagers when they get too close :)

I posted this on another forum, but might give you some ideas. These are Fiamm Freeway Blasters 132db, loud as hell, awesome.

The horns are concealed within lower (legs) fairing. Coming out on the sides of the top part of the engine guards. Toward the front wheel.

Installation kit from your local hardware store:
Electrical system brackets No.2
M6-1.0 Stainless Bolts X 16mm and Nuts
M6 Stainless Washers

To remove the rider side of the faring, you need to remove three of the pins shown here by pushing from inside the cowl out. locations are, rider side one, two on the top of the faring. then gently pull the faring cover towards the back of the motorcycle, there are two rubber retainers on the outside side of the cover, one up and one down.

Electrical connection at factory horn plug, I soldered (always) the flat connectors to my homemade horn harness and covered everything with shrink tubing.

put everything back in and enjoy a very loud horn, I recommend to wear a helmet with some ear protection as these are very loud horns, if you use them a lot, like here in south Florida.

I used a couple normal car horns. The air horns are loud, but I like the sound of these better.
I mounted both horns on a flat bracket and bolted it in place using the bolt hole at the top of the radiator (using a longer bolt). The only thing I had to watch for was the size of the horns. Too big, and the fork covers hit. My ideal horns were taken off a Cadillac, but quickly found they were too big to fit in this space.
The gloss black hides nicely on the black Vaquero :0)
