That's the kind of Nomad, I like the most for everyday riding. A graceful and streamlined stance. Very beautiful indeed.

When you hit the superslab for extended trips, the looks change to that of SUV-type bike, which is also very cool, e.g. see Voyager, Kris or Rick's Nomad.

Kris, I was very close to buying that colour combination at my local Kawi dealer but somebody from Saskatchewan was quicker than me. But I managed to snag a Candy Fire Red + Metallic Diablo Black from another dealer within a week.

Having seen your Nomad in person, I think your bike is a true Nomad, accessorized for the long haul and your ODO shows it.

Very nice photo.

Rick,

A fairing? A shark nose or batwing? The former is my favorite but the latter looks great on Nomads, too. Have you seen Psychocycle's signature photos lately? http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx272/abowler1/rtsideviewfooter.jpg.

When we meet, I will take a photo of our Nomads side-by-side, you know, it's hard to come across a famous Nomad, such as yours http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif.

Now that the weather has turned and things are greening up I am looking forward to getting some decent shots of my bike, until then this is my favorite photo shopped pic. Looks kinda retro to me. Added top rails since it was taken, looking at the Cobra rack or a trunk for the next addition.

Kris, what brand of trunk is that you have?

I have a Premeux Tour Pack. It comes with a nice chrome mounting bracket. Prairie Cruiser just bought one but had to wait about two months for the thing. He is really happy with it though as am I.... http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif!

E,
It's an H.D. fairing. I bought it from a member { Strobe} in the fall of last yr. He tossed in the lowers as well. He offered to do the install for me so I said I'd get to his place this spring/summer for that. I'm hoping to get there in early June but this knee thing of mine is screwing up,...or at least casting a few issues on getting there. I'm waiting for an MRI and then who knows what. I'm hoping to get in sooner than later for the MRI and then sneak away for the install before the next step with the knee.
This knee thing could be a season ending thing but I'll have to wait and see.

here is a photo of the fairing on "strobe's" bike
I'm seriously considering the H.D. trunk from him too. Do you know anyone who wants a Venture trunk/rack that's ready to go?? Minus the chrome "Nomad" script. But would include the OEM rack for that trunk.rack

Rick,

That fairing looks very cool, the added wind protection, the instrument panel and the stereo equipment, I think you're gonna love it.

Once I rode a Road Glide [and fell in love with it] with the radio on and the speakers cranked up, it was really nice. [I'm still not sure whether or not it was the radio but love the full fairing, Road/Street Glides in particular].

Don't know of anybody who wants a trunk but I'll keep that in mind.

Take care of your knee, that's the highest priority now and hope to see you soon.

Rick, gotta say now you've got me hooked on the fairing idea. I've got a Russell seat on the way so the fairing will have to wait for next season but it will happen. Deb and I run with Operator and his wife all the time and he just got his biked triked and has a fairing as well. So, I'm surrounded and now hooked......bastards..........

Nice shot Brian! I like Canadian Rockies more than the Rockies in Montana...

Thanks folks.
It was a nice ride - but I agree that the Canadian rockies seem a bit more rugged (though I could be biased).
Looks like I am headed back down that way again next month! Nice.

I really enjoyed the strech between Libby and Kalispell. Nice quiet sweeping turns, no bucket laws, and a nice liberal speed limit.....

As a side note, we had a guy in our group towing a trailer. He opted not to do the going to the sun highway and detoured around using highway #2 and met us in St. Mary. He'd also just done that pass a few months back. He said it was just as good as the g2sun hwy...

so, if you have some extra time on your hands, consider doing a circle route using both roads.

We went for a Sunday ride and over the Logan was our choice. We went to West Glacier and were going to come back that way, but because of the construction and the idiots stopping to look at furry animals, we decided once over the top was enough so we came back on Hwy. 2 through the Marias Pass. Once we get to East Glacier, we turn onto Montana 49 and then onto Hwy. 89 and end up at St. Mary, which the start of Glacier Park on the east side. It's about a 7 hour trip for us, counting stops to rehydrate and a fantastic ride. We do this ride many times in the summer, since St. Mary is an hour from where we live, and have done so for years. We never fail to enjoy it each and every time.

The construction on the GTTS is not that much of a bother it's the cagers that stop in the middle of the road, pile out of their cars to take pictures of anything that moves and sometimes things that don't move. We saw a guy laying on the side of the road one time, taking pics of a flower; couldn't hardly see him laying in the grass but the car stopped in the middle of the road was a sure bet someone saw something and it was a sign for everyone else to stop and look.

The ride from West Glacier to St. Mary was much more pleasant and fun, especially Montana 49 and 89. Those 2 roads are a series of twisties, with some to the extreme, with the speed limit posted at a speed you can't ride at so you can actually go the speed you want instead of 25 mph, like on the Logan. Very little traffic to deal with, so it makes the ride even better.

Everyone coming to the rally will get to ride this whole route, going through the Marias in the morning and over the Logan in the afternoon. Everyone is in for real treat, riding what we consider to be one of the best, if not the best ride in North America.

I feel for you man, I might be in the same mess with a knee in a short time. I buggered my knee up by shoveling snow off a roof a couple of months ago and it's gradually getting worse. I've put off going to the doc since I don't want to miss our short riding season and the rally but I can hardly walk on it tonight so I guess I'll see the doc when we get back from Kalispell.

Hey, I'm just saying, I know what a sore knee is like and some days it makes me wonder if I can ride and yep, you betcha, I can and do. But of course, ricky just has surgery, and if BC comp is anything like Alberta comp, you pretty much have to do what the doc says or comp can screw you up big time.

Because, I can tell you, the ride on Tuesday is everything everyone here has said and more. Fantastic road, fantastic scenery, fantastic company on the best motorcycles made; one not to miss.
