Can you tell who made it, or where it comes from? I could live with that. I just don't do e-bay.. So thanks fer the heads up. I will look into e-mailing the guy, and see if snail mail works or something.

I am sure I can mount it, but where did you?

It ships from Land O' Lakes, Florida, the brand name on it is Yih Tyan, what the hell ever that means http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif But it works fine and I mounted it to my handlebars with a clamp that has rubber on the inside. When I ordered mine I could order the clamp from the same place but don't see that now.
I just checked again and the very last line in the shipping and payment terms box says An optional handlebar clamp is available for 9.99

My Kawasaki OEM tach says the exact same thing. If it is the manufacturer, all Kaw does is put it in a fancy case and charge $300 for it. Same black dial too.

Wow, that is amazing. Not much profit there huh.

Thanks for the link TC, I've emailed the seller (he has 10 listed for sale) to question if he'll ship the optional clamp (if I buy it at the same time) for the one shipping fee. I initially thought that 2 1/4" was a tad small but it's only going to be used as a guide anyway because of my ongoing hunt for 6th gear....

http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Six gear is the reason I put it on my bike also Gary.
I ordered the clamp at the same time and had it shipped with the tach at no extra shipping.

yeah I get the 6th feeling too. Wicked busy here with this damnned pc problem, so I didn't get to look in.

I haven't tried to contact the guy yet... If any one does and wants to get me one I am good for the dough. I just don't do e bay. So if I get one from that source somehow, it will either be with a little help from someone here that can do e-bay, since I don't even have any e-bay account, or from me mailing the guy to buy straight up.

I pic of the clamp might be nice...

This old win 98 system barely works, hard to get turned on and hard to get turned off and the monitor is foggy. I got a used xp set up but it needs a monitor, which is keeping me busy.

I made a post about this in off topics.. LOL, No Body Read this, knowing full well everyone would... http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

If it ain't too late Gary O may... He sent a pm asking on that, but I was away, and now he is away, but I think I am set, so long as I am not too late.

Once I had a e-bay account, but it was stolen somehow. I was on my trip, and I think someone used a camera to get my pass word. Then pay pal took 50 bucks for lack of use and that act didn't cut it with me.

I simply don't understand too much about computers and new world crap.

At the type of primitive events I attend, I can put a real silver dollar in the middle of the road, and leave it there, and when ever i get around to comin' back it will still be there.

Once I lost a pouch with 0 ID in it off horse back, and didn't miss it for 3 days. All it had was a 100 bucks and not another thing. I still didn't know it was missing, when a man walked up and said he saw a horseman drop it, and asked if I knew what was inside.

That camp was 3 miles long by 1.2 mile wide, and I hadn't been back to that area, nor understood I lost it. That guy asked the first horse mounted character he saw which was me.

The money was intact too, and I tried to give some to that guy, but he refused to take any.

Another time I lost sterling silver patterns I made, and whole bunch I dropped carrying other things, and some woman found them and returned them to me.

In those days my marks were a seated horseman on a rearing horse, and the man held a sword, or a acorn marking. Since then my makers mark in silver is my initials a big C with a w and m crossed up like the old VW logo inside a circle.

I still use the sword weilding horseman on blades I make, when I make any.

Mac, first, you should be more carefull about hanging on to your belongings. ;)
Seriuosly, Gary-O is in Canada and the shipping may be more on the tach. If I were you , and this is just my opinion, I would thank Gary for the offer and let him know how much you appreciate it but explain the shipping thing to him and go with oldbikers who is in Mississippi. A little cheaper for you in the long run.

You asked for a pic of the clamp. Here is the one on my Drifter. Not a very good pic but it is a type of c-clamp with rubber inside so it will not mar the handlebars.

Hey TC, I ordered the tach last night and it's being mailed to Mac's place, not mine in Newfoundland, that way he doesn't have to pay the extra "northerner" shipping fees! Great minds think alike though, good thought.

Never thought of having it shipped to Mac. :-[
So I guess my mind is not quite as great as yours http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
It is really nice when members step up to help other members, Thanks Gary.

The write-up on this tach says that it is a "mechanical" type tach. I think our bikes need the 4 wire "electrical" type.

Well Gary evidently trusts me for the bucks. But so far he won't tell me his name and address so I can pay him back. LOL...

I sure hope this is a lectric tach....

The pic is a tad blurry in my fog... Looks like a 'P" clamp with a rubber liner. Since I haven't got the tach in my greasey mitts, I can't say how I will mount it, but I am only sure I won't mount it from behind http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

When I get it and if it's a cable drive I will be havin a bad day, but I will still pay Gary.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS....13016855 784212 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160276769880&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid%3D8627213016855784212)

it is lectric...

Old bikers, This one is mechanical cable drive. Suited to cable driven 2 cylinder engines.

The one I bought and posted about is an electric tach. It only needs to be hooked up to one coil.
Mac, it will work on your Nomad.
oldbikers, yes the bracket on the back is removable. The one you posted is cable driven. Stay away from it. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

TC you gettin out this way this year?

I have a 2nd nacell, which is down to the powder coaters.. If i can scalp the tach out of that can, I might measure it up and mount in in the nacell, if it fits... That would mean a hole saw and a O Ring... I just know I am keepin my womans purse http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

old bikers, I didn't see that discroption, just the mechanical tach. Early carbed Nomads might use that cable drive, but with no cable, that tach won't work unless you put a kids whirrly gig on it and hold it in the wind http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Those of us that have carbed Nomads, use the electric tach also.

Yes you can, and it is the more accurate choice. Those with no cable have only one choice.
