View Full Version : The Heat is On !
Down here in south Louisiana, our good old hot, humid days are back. Supposed to hit 90 most of this week. I know we aren't as hot as CJ in AZ, but with our humidity, it's plenty hot. Very good riding weather, though. Plenty of bikes out cruising. I think " Crotch Rockets " were a popular Christmas gift last year. Tons of squids on the road. Summer is finally here. Be safe and enjoy !

Send some of that warmth up north! It's snowed here every day since Friday. It didn't stick around, but it's still only in the 40s for highs.

Hot? We haven't hit 100 yet, but probably will by end of week. You don't say it's hot in AZ unless it's 110 or above. That's about a month away.
It was really windy here this weekend. Riding sucked.

It's been unseasonably cool here as well Prairie. Could someone please send us 10 to 15 degrees warmer weather????
We usually only have two seasons here, summer and more summer. This year, we had four true seasons. We have been in the upper 70's and low 80's during the day, nights have been in the 40's and 50's. We're starting to get into our 90+ days which we all can related to down here. It's when the humidity is very high that this stuff down here will feel like it's killing ya.

Hot in Houston too.
But my wife likes it that way so we're good. :)
Looks like a couple of well seasoned Nomad riders you have there. I remember when I was that age, heat didn't seem to bother me. What a difference time makes !!
I know this is changing the subject a little, but do any of you guys have trouble with pinging with 89 octane in hot weather ? I use it some in summer if premium is extremely high, just to save some money for a soft drink. LOL .

We had a nasty storm come thru again last week-rained all day Tuesday and turned to snow by early evening. Snowed all day Wednesday with winds peaking at 60 mph driving the white crap. We ended up with 8 inches of slush to deal with. The wind and rain showers are still happening and the forecast is for snow tomorrow, so we haven't been on the Nomads for 2 weeks.

Are you kidding? I had a problem with mine pinging on 91 octane when it's hot. That's the main reason I added a fuel processor and opened the intake up. I almost always run 89 now, but I can get away with 87 in the cooler months.

It was almost 80 today and 75 predicted for the rest of the week with an onshore flow. damn, living in Southern California with this weather sucks!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
Yeah, I know, BD, that the Southern California climate is tough to live in. I admire your sacrifice to live there. Disgusting mild temps , sunshine, no oil slicks, zero humidity. Life can be a real bitch!
You guys in Canada. I know it is a beautiful country, but don't y'all get a little tired of that friggin snow ?
CJ, tell me more about this fuel processor. Did you install it yourself? Or, I guess the question is, is it easy to install yourself if you are not mechanically inclined?

I don't know. I am mechanically inclined. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
There are probably 2 or 3 other threads going on about fuel processors right now. They aren't that difficult to install, really it's plug in a couple of connectors and wire a lead to ground. It helps if you raise or remove the fuel tank, as the fuel injector connectors are right underneath it and if you have big hands, you'll need the room.
The purpose of a fuel processor is to tune the amount of fuel being fed to the engine. These bikes are super lean from the factory, and they run hot and ping. Richen the mixture up a little and it will run cooler and the pinging is reduced or goes away completely.

In the lower 80s today but will be getting to 86 later in the week. I think 90 or 95 in Alabama or Louisiana is hotter than 100 in Arizona, don't ask me how I know. I did physical training in Louisiana and I know what Alabama is like. When I run in these states I sweat like crazy. I did physical training in Arizona for two months and I never broke a sweat. It does get extremely hot in Arizona but to me is easier to take without all the humidity.

Yeah, I know...it's a dry heat. I have lived in humid areas, Tennessee and Okinawa. I'll take 110 and 5% humidity anytime. However, when the monsoon arrives it goes to 110 and 40% humidity. Big difference.
Hey Painless!! WTF! http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif We would have to sell our snowblowers and shovels, Sorels and parkas, won't have to put on the winter tires on the cars (it's the law here in Quebec), kids wouldn't have a reason to stay inside (it's cold outside, the computer and video games aren't), we won't have to pay 2000$ + every year to go to Cuba (yeah we can go there) and not to mention watching the Nomad in the garage and only able to start her up :'( , that's if the battery hasn't been taken out... And what would we have to complain about if it wasn't for the cold? oh yeah, Harper! No we are Canadians and we like cold......... BEER http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif Raining today, summer should be here by July http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif

Don't Like Heat - Humidity - Try the Grand Canyon.
Took a trip to the Grand Canyon last weekend. Sunday morning heading to the Canyon, 20 miles into a 60 mile trip, it rained a couple minutes. Hailed about a minute. Then snowed on and off all the way to Grand Canyon Village. Had to stop. Running 70 MPH into a 20 MPH wind sucked all of the heat out of us.
Arrived at the Canyon and spent the day under partly cloudy skies. We could see snow occasionally out over the Canyon. On the way back on Monday on Rt. 66 it wasn't as windy or cold and we ended up stripping down to draft jackets at Kingman, AZ for the last 100 miles to Las Vegas.
It's 87 right now in Vegas. But we have that dry heat thing http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif working for us. Doesn't get hot until 105. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif http://s2.images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif

Canyon gets interesting weather. My son lives up there. Top of the Canyon will get snow and down at the bottom it will be in the 90s.
He has been rather unhappy lately with all the snow they had this winter. He is ready for it to be gone and summer to get there. While it gets hot during the days, at night it loses heat like crazy in the summer.

That was the opinion of everyone working at the Canyon. They were sick of Winter and ready for Spring.
