I am new here and I am sure the topic has been covered somewhere. But I haven't found it but can I remove the left side air cleaner and filter the right side. Would like to get a naked jugs look on the left side.

It isn't that difficult to do. The problem is the crossover tube that tunnels air from left to right in the stock filter set up has to be destroyed to be removed. If that doesn't bother you, the results can be pretty nice.
My 2007, right side:

Can you remove the left side and still use the right side cover I really wasn't wanting to change that look on the right side. If I go with the k&n set up what about riding in rain.

Yes you may. Check out the double plated system made by chuckster. Very good quality and uses the stock dog bowl.

No problem in the rain. If a little water gets in the intake it won't hurt, it cleans the carbon off your pistons and valves.

Todd, year make and modle. There is other things you need to know and other things we need to know.
What exhaust system do you have, or will have?
What fuel modual do you have?
When you get Chucksters backing plates/ filter set up , you just might want his 'coasters' too. These get the reed valve bodies gone and the associated plumbing.
Cj is right of course about cutting the plastic cross over tube in the intake system, but it can be cut, so it could be plastic welded again...
The tube is a hard plastic and will need to be driven out to the right side. Around here we speak of right and left as seated.
So the right side backing plate needs to be off for that.
If you were going to use that backing plate for a different 2x9 filter set up then it would need a metal plate to block off the cross over tube, but you won't need to with the 2 x 7 alloy plate.

Stock exhaust?
What if any fuel modual?
If all you change is the ait filter you won't get mych power improvement. Maybe you are not after that...
Still you may end up with ping, and if so there is no choice for a fuel modual. Either a Cobra unit ot the TFI unit, or PC III.
If the plan it to change to after maket exhaust there is no choice but to get a fuel modual.

I can't wait to get them and install them. I am not looking for power improvement just for looks really. The only thing I have done to the bike is a debaffle for a little more sound that turned out nice. I am just like everbody else can't leave it alone one mod after another it's a sickness but a good one.

Let me know as I have one plate left right now and I will be running more coasters on the machine this week.
Cheers

FYI- After putting the new intake on your bike, you'll most likely need a fuel processor.
Uncluttered..clean..simple..functionable..and "NAKED".

Todd, with debaffeling and a freer flow intake you are going to have to have a fuel modual. No way around it. Either Cobra's unit or TFI, which are similar, and lesser cost than PC III.
When you can see a pic of a Nomad and want to tell what years about they are, the tail lights are one key, the curve under the gas tank for 05 and up is another way.
Bdog, is a sick man, and his bike has both hot and cold running water.. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I know I am going to have to buy a fuel inj controller. Have any of you guys used the bully from gman industries? I sure am glad I am divorced so I can spend all my money on these add ons instead of fake finger nails:)

LOL.. No I never heard of Bully, i would avoid it for that very fact... No one here can support it.
On the other hand if you go with Cobra or TFi many here can support all the questions you are likey to ask.
V&H makes another unit I would avoid. It has 35 settings and you must accomplish 33 of them. No one here has it...anymore.

Cj is likely to be the best tech we have for Cobra.... Other guys too, but Cj articulates the How To well.

The Gman Bully is a good unit. I would have bought one myself, but at the time they didn't make them for the Nomad. I am not aware of anyone who has installed one on a Nomad, but I know they perform well on other bikes.

Dang it Bdog! You had to go and show the left side of your bike. I have always thought your bike was really cool but now I must clean up the intake system. Every other bike I've seen with the intake mod has some sort of plate between the jugs on the left side. I had no idea it would look so clean on it's own. Got to save a few bucks and get the parts from Chuckster to do the intake and the coasters. I already the Cobra processor.
Thanks bro and yes it does clean up well but did you notice that the barrels are longer?..Bdog
