The bean counters here in the land of Lincoln have decided to cut cost by taking the the motor cops bikes away. Hard to understand how taking a cop off a 40 MPG hog and having them drive a 20 MPG or less full size sedan is saving money. I was talking to a state motor cop yesterday at a fuel station along I-57. He thinks they will prolly get the bikes back but for now they are to be back in cages by June. He proudly told me he had picked up his ride in September and has 13,000 miles on it.

Didn't see that news yet... must have missed it; but doesn't surprise me.

Illinois is screwed at this point, and since I live here I am particularly not happy in the least with what the Democratic party has done to this state over the decades of their control.

Interestingly enough, Illinois is only behind California regarding its fiscal "soundness" -- which, of couse, is near bankruptcy.

Illinois has been primarily a "democratic" state for over 50+ years, and it has finally revealed how well they have handled the situation.

Just yesterday, there were a bunch of idiots protesting in our capital city of Springfield demanding the legislators raise taxes so they can keep their jobs. Many were educators, but none the less all were employed by the taxpayers -- so no wonder "they" wanted more taxes!!

Now... I am not hammering educators per se... but rather am suggesting my displeasure with the fact that our state is, and has been, so corrupt for so many years that the politicians cannot even unwind it enough to save this state... nor are they remotely suggesting that they will make further cuts in the programs and services provided (which are loaded with excesses in many situations) before raising taxes.

While many might wonder why I would complain about a state with only a 3% income-tax rate... well it is because we are taxed to death from every other angle in this state (i.e., sales, service, real-estate, and other such taxes buried into our everyday purchases and costs of living in Illinois).

This is truly an unbelievable period of time we live today... just truly unbelievable... and I am p!ssed about it.

It was in the Mattoon newspaper Tuesday, and the cop confirmed it. One cool thing about meeting him. I was north bound at the 179 doing 70 MPH, he passed me waved and stopped in the turn around at the 180. I motored on toward work. At the 185 I looked in my mirror and he was there again. Waved and zipped on by. When I met up with him at the fuel stop I pulled up next to him and asked. "Dude did you just pass me....twice?" He said "Yup we were looking for a guy in a truck but someone beat me to him so I pulled in here to get fuel." I don't know if he is the one I saw on Tuesday in Mattoon with his trunk open but that one had a West Coast Choppers decal inside the lid. Has to be a cool job

That seems to be a really stupid move. Sometimes you just can't find the logic in things that our mighty leaders decide to do.
