Met a nice couple today while at a bike shop (didn't buy anything). They were bringing in a pink bike with a pink sidecar mounted to it, and a 2005 Nomad to have the sidecar mounted on it. Hope to see them again sometime to get a picture when it's completed. They had a wealth of riding experience, and I wished I could have talked to them longer. I gave them a card for KawaNOW, so maybe we'll hear from them soon. I promised them a great bunch of people with a lot of knowledge on the Nomads. The husband had purchased a Victory Vision and the Nomad was going to be for the wife once the sidecar was mounted.
They really put some miles on, 1000 miles some weeks, I think they said. The Nomad just got back out of the shop. It has been down since last August. With 85,000 miles on it, the cam chain had worn through the spark plug tunnels and it started leaking oil everywhere. I guess it was a huge hassle trying to get it fixed. Kawasaki would not cover it completely (said it was a wear item!) and so they were on their own for a big portion of the repair. Their story alone has convinced me to keep a sharp eye on those and I'll probably be digging into it over the next winter.
