Well, the verdict is in. I have had my Wide Open Customs fairing on for about a month now and have put a couple of thousand miles on with it. I purchased mine with the Jensen Stereo and with the upgrade Kenwood speakers. I believe they now come with the Kenwood speakers as standard. The fairing and mounts are for the 1600 and some small mods need to be done for it to fit well on the 1500. I had to move my Fire & Steel driving lights and lightbar forward about 1.25". I also had to move the headlight bucket and headlight forward about 1". I have Phatt II 5.5" risers and had no problem with them. I did all of the mods before paint and had the fairing off and on numerous times. The fairing is a quality piece and does not rattle at all, even on the most bumpy of roads. I also have a Baron's Big Air Kit and Vance & Hines exhaust. The stereo is plenty loud even at freeway speeds. I am more than pleased with the Wide Open Customs fairing. I also installed an Eastern Beaver fuseblock which I ran the stereo and my Cobra FI2000 to. I love working on my Nomad and am now trying to think of what else I can do! Cam chain tension extenders are in my toolbox and just waiting until my new Harbor Freight motorcycle lift is here for install.
I put over 19,000 mile on the fun meter last season and hope to match that this year. Lots of maintenance. So the bottom line is if you are thinking of a Wide Open Customs fairing I would recommend it, but remember, it is NOT plug and play.

Thanks Gibby on the report. I was seriously looking at Wide Opens fairing to install this spring on my 99. I don't mind a little work. Glad to know this is a good one.

Hey Gibby, I am more than happy with my WOC fairing on the '06 Nomad. I had no fit problems at all. It was pretty much plug and play for me. Can you tell me what model the Kenwood speakers are? The Aquatronics were OK but I now have the rear speaker pods for my trunk so I am looking to uograde now.

Hey Hammer, apparently the 1600 front end geometry is different enough to cause some minor fitment problems. The Kenwood speakers are model KFC-1382ie. It is a 5-1/4" 3 way speaker. Very good sound for the money.

Yes I see now you have the '03, nice color choice. I am looking for speakers and have been looking through Amazon.com. I have been looking at the Boss speakers just because they will not break the bank and may tie in to my red pinstripes and accents plan.

I had the chance to listen to some Infiniti speakers that were fantastic standing still but not so much when actually riding. So far I can't see getting high fidelity theatre quality sound on the fly.

I have the Premeux fairing and it does come out of the box ready to go with no mods required. Its just a matter of removing the windsheild and bolting on the fairing.
My only weak point is the stereo, which I'll replace someday as well as the speakers.

I pulled the trigger on PolkAudio DB521's today. That should help upgrade the sound.
Now I have the HD speaker pods mounted to the trunk I may put 2 of the Aquatronics back there.

A couple of my pals who have the speaker pods on their Ultras say you can't hear the rear speakers that well, let us know how yours work out once your finished.

My King Tour Pak had the holes for the pods. I was looking for the Dummy Pods on EBay as a way to finish the trunk and use them for small storage spaces. My friend got me the real deal for less with J&M speakers inside. I have already put 5.25 speaker covers on them and the inside will take a 5.25 speaker with a little modding so I will see how 2 of the old speakers from the fairing work. If not the larger speaker covers will get small hinges and the original plan will take over.
