Another Reckless Fairing owner

Well I really shouldnt have done it but Im DIVORCED so Moma cannt rip me a new one http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif.. I ordered my Reckless Fairing for my 04 Nomad..Had no holes cut for speakers or radio,, Ill do that later,, Been this long w/o tunes I can wait,, Ill paint first :) Shouldnt do that either BUT I CAN http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif NO ONE to Bitch me out for doing it ::).. So I should be riding to Lake George Meet in NY in July with it.. Mitch from what all the guys have said It should fit like a glove,,,,You know I bought the Nomad thinking it had everything I needed, It did till I saw something I had to have but didnt know it till I saw it LOL.. NOW I have to wait till it gets here ::)

Rich, I'm very happy with the risers I just installed. I'd hate to have to give them up to add the fairing. I think I'll wait until Reckless comes up with something to compensate for the risers. Maybe he won't and someone on here will design a fix. Probably will be Jim (OB).

Mitch, My HD Pull back risers should work with the Reckless Fairing. and I assume you have the Phatts risers? I wonder if you shim them with chrome washers they would by pass the housing they hit,, 1 guy trimmed the radio housing so he could use hid Phatts risers,

Very cool, Rich! I'm sure you'll be very happy with the fairing. I'd like to get one someday, I've heard they are a nice addition to the bike.
I know what you mean about thinking these bikes had it all when new. I guess a person can always add more bling and accessories!

Rich, I have the Aeromach risers. Raise the bars 2 1/2" with 1 1/2" pullback. Not quite as much pullback as the Phat II.

Rich it's about time you got one as I remember you started this http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif The problem with the risers on mine is no riser would work I have a 2" set of chucksters and they would work ether but Cliff (VulcanE )has the solution the 1700 bars give almost the same rise and pullback that the phatt11 riser had so when I get rich I will get me a new set of bars but I like the fairing enough that if I had to I would give up the risers.

So is it official the reckless fairing will not work with PhatII risers? I want to get one without radio or speaker cutouts, as I'm not a radio person.

Is it that the fairing will not work with a radio in place or will it just not fit with the PhatII risers period? Thanks.

I decided Im not going to Ak. this year is a no go,and probly wont go to Va. so that saves a few $$.. Hopefully Ill get the Fairing painted before I hit the Kaw Rally in NY in JulyIm also thinking of the 1700 bars in the future if I dont like the way the HD risers work for me....... Im also going to test fit on my sons Sabre and my Buds Raider,,,

James mine just wouldn't work with the radio splash guard I may have been able to change the guard to get it to work but I needed the bike so I just took the risers off. Also I had mine in the of set holes on the risers it may have worked in the center holes.

How about if I have no radio cut out and no splash guard? Will the fairing fit? I had to use the offset holes to mount my phats, no way they were going to fit using the center holes.

James that is what I said also but I sold my risers to a member here on Kawanow and he used the center hole on his 1600. In these pictures I had it bolted on and it didn't hit but not sure if I had it tightened down.

It looks like they just clear in that picture. I guess we need somebody that has both phats and has made the fairing work to chime in. I don't mind doing some work to make it fit, I'd just like and idea of what I have to do.

Here's the options:

1. Fits with PhatII's using offset hole and a radio in place

2. Fits with PhatII's using offset hole with no radio in place

3. Fits with PhatII's using center hole and a radio in place

4. Fits with PhatII's using center hole and no radio in place

5. Doesn't fit at all with PhatII's center or offset and you must do some cutting to make it work.

I think that covers it all.
