I read some positive reviews about Meancitycycles.com and decided to give them a try. My Mustang seat was too low and brought me forward too much. I'm tall and it was uncomfortable.Better than stock seat but not as comfortable as I would like a motorcycle seat to be.
Dropped the seat off last week and picked it up today. They installed dual layer of memory foam and the seat looks slightly thicker.
I just got back from a 45 min test ride. My butt hurts like hell . Much worse than before. It feels like I sit on my balls now and my tail bone hurts a lot. It raised me very little but I sink into it more now. I'm very dissapointed. Taking it back means one more week and I'm not sure they can improve it much.
I'm frustrated and out of $175. :(

Know what you mean Ivan. I had my stock and pillion seats done there also. They were better but still weren't the way I wanted them. Both myself and my wife hurt after 300 miles. Before, she hurt after 50 miles and about 80 for me. I now have Russell DL seats and we can easily do over 600 miles and not hurt.

+1 on the russell. A grand is alot of dough but it was worth being able to ride all day.

we have a guy in our town thats does that, but, you need to be there so he can see how you sit on it, takes about an hour (putting on, checking, taking off, reshaping, putting back and checking again) had it done for the wife's pillon and she loves it,, cost $100.. and if in a years time you need it redone he redoes it for free

Do you have pictures of your seat?
Russell may be the only way to go. I think I paid about $600 for the mustang and now add another $175. Bummer!
Maybe I should get one of those lawnmower seats from Tractor Supply? ::)

I ride a hybrid touring bicycle as well as a motorcycle. For both, softer is not usually more comfortable for longer rides. If you saw my bicycle seat you would wonder how I could sit on it at all it's so small and thin and yet I can ride 8 hours on it. There is a cut out of the middle that prevents cutting off blood flow which is the primary cause of butt burn. It's the same with your motorcycle seat. It can be very hard as long as it supports the 2 bones on each side of your ..... and does not cut off blood flow. That's why a sheep skin and some other ways can help to promote blood and air flow when hot.

It seems Seats are a crap shoot. On size can't fit all. And to me, I don't ride enough to pay a grand for a seat. If I did pay a grand for a seat, I would swear I like it. :)

I bought another Nomad seat and intend to play around with shaping and adding memory foam. I think I know best what I want and where. We will see how this works out. The wife is going to mess with hers too.

I may end up sticking with my stock seat. I don't hear enough good news about any seat but the 1k Russell.

Ivan that sucks that didn't work out for you. I sent them my seat to lower me & move me forward a little. When I got it back I was forward, way forward and lower. It was very uncomfortable, so I contacted them, sent it in again & now I love it. The 2nd time they got it in on my schedule & had it back t me in no time. I'd sen them a seat of my next bke without reservation. I'm sure they'll fix yours up...

Ivan sorry to hear that didn't work out for you. I have heard many people who have sent their seat to Spencer for modification and have been very satisfied with the result. I have not heard of as many people using mean city.

Ischial tuberosities? Sorry, flashback to my Radiology days. :)

I like my Mustang, but don't love it. The backrest is pretty much the best part of it, I think. I liked the one more that I had on my C50 before I got the Nomad. I did try out a beaded seatcover last summer and that helped quite a bit, but again it raises you higher. I'd like to see a seat thats a little narrower in front and comes up more onto the tank area, like I see on some of the H-D's.

Thanks for your support guys. I called Mean City this morning. They say customer satisfaction is important but my new seat requires an 800 mile break-in. I'm not sure I can ride 800 miles on it, even in short increments.
Maybe it's just me? The bike is kinda small but there is not much out there to choose from. How come midgets have rights and tall people don't?

Anyone try one of these?
http://www.bikerhiway.com/pro-pad-fabric-seat-pad-large-p-1258.html It says 30 day moneyback trial period.

By the way, is it politically correct or otherwise OK to pay midgets under the table?

Beads, seat pads, and other things like that are nice & might work well but for me I am too short already which is why I went to mean city cycles. I could barely reach the ground when I got the bike.

I have a stock seat on my '06. I found that the more I ride, my big ol' bum seems to get used to the seat and I can ride much further. But over the winter, I lose the "tone" if that is what it is called. When I first got the bike I was numb after the first 40 miles. At the end of that riding season I could go 100 miles easy. I think it is a matter of conditioning your rear end. BnG

Yes...since that is where you will find them. But it is not PC to call them midgets!..vertically challenged people.

The problem with the Stock is in the actually plastic pan itself. It's not really a good platform to build off of. I dug my foam out to try and get it a little more "dished" (like my 2-up Corbin), then had my local upholster finish it up. I only use it when I convert to solo set-up. I have not ridden the Mustang, but I'm pretty happy with my Corbin, although the tend to be hard, you really do sit "in" them, and well supported. Reminds me of a horse saddle, which I used to spend hours in the saddle on my Appaloosa.
