I have been looking into wide open's fairing and I read on their site where their cd player skipped, now your saying the speakers are sh*t too? Is the fairing itself a well made fairing?
Found these 5" Polk Audio's at crutchfield:
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=305050&i=107DB501&tp=98
And these 5 1/4" speakers there as well:

Hope this helps,
Bill

I have BossAudio marine speakers in mine; 3.5's where the Harley tach and speedo went, and 5.25's in factory locations. They sound decent, but not awesome.

YES I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE WAY THE FAIRING IS MADE. BUT I WOULD NOT ORDER IT WITH THE STEREO AND SPEAKERS. YOU WOULD HAVE BETTER LUCK BUYING YOUR OWN SETUP. AND LOOK CLOSELY ON HOW TO MOUNT THE STEREO ON THERE WEBSITE. AS FOR THE CD SKIPPING ALL AFTERMARKET FAIRINGS CD PLAYERS SKIP FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN. I JUST PLUG A MP3 PLAYER IN AND IT WORKS FINE. IF YOU HAVE STOCK PIPES THE STEREO AND SPEAKERS WILL WORK JUST FINE. I HAVE V&H BAGGERS A LITTLE TO LOUD FOR STEREO. YOU CAN HEAR IT FINE AT ABOUT 65 MPH OR BELOW. I JUST DONT LIKE CRUISING THAT SLOW.

Yeah, I noticed that too. They want to sell you a Jensen marine-grade AM/FM/CD stereo and then tell you not to play CD's in it because it skips? I wonder if they know that they make AM/FM units that will take an SD memory card to play MP3's? That's what I would do. Order the fairing w/o the WOC sound system and build my own.

Thanks spirello,
I think I will take your advice. I talked to Terri at Wide Open and she said she would sell me the fairing and speakers without the radio for $50.00 less..................Oh boy ::)
I can put together a killer system and be happy. I have a little cheap EQ from Pyramid that I bought on Ebay in my truck. It is a EQ/ booster and really makes the stock speakers come to life. Maybe put something like that in line to boost the output to the speakers. It is only about an inch tall by 6 or 7 inches wide and cost about $20 or so.

That with a small amp or the Eq I was talking about to fine tune the bass and treble would kick ass !!!

6X9's will have the best sound. More surface area = more air being moved = louder! The SPL is all that matters, measured in dB at 1 meter. Higher is better.....more efficient = less power required.

Yes, but unfortunately the 6x9's are only a pipe dream. The fairings only allow for a (4) 5" - 5 1/2" on 2 models and (2) 6 1/2" on the other. :'(
