What do you think about the announcement that Honda is closing its Maryville, Ohio plant in the spring of 2009? No more Honda motorcycles made in the US.

It sure seems like all manufacturing will be out of the US before long. What was there reason for closing down the plant?

The plant is able to produce 75,000 motorcycles a year and last year they only produced 44,000, but that was only part of the reason.

It seems everyday I read the paper there are more manufacturing jobs being lost, If this keeps up everything will be made in China or Mexico and the rich will get richer. Eventually we may not be able to afford items if all that is left is service industry and retail jobs.

Well then they should produce more, not shut down! Sheesh...

I've been through at least 5 plant closures. Not a fun thing.
I bought new tires a couple of weeks ago. While waiting for the tires I was looking around the showroom at custom wheels. American Racing Wheels stamped on the back "made in China".Every custom wheel in the store (Goodyear) was made in China.

One tiny bright spot. I got one of my new Dunlop Elite III tires that I recently ordered delivered to me today. There stamped on the sidewall is a marking I haven't seen in a long time. MADE IN U.S.A. Ya baby.
