Today boys and girls, instead of b*tching about a vendor, I'm going to tell you all how delighted I am with one.
On Wednesday 02/20 at 08:16 I ordered a tour bag from http://www.motorcycle-luggage.com. That same day, at 12:47 I received an email telling me it had shipped. It was delivered to mi casa today. They offered free shipping on the product I ordered, which usually means they send it by mule and it takes a week. Not this time.
Now, let's talk about the product. I ordered an "Expandable Tahoe" bag made by T-Bags. This thing totally rocks. It is shipped flat, you install the plastic "frame" to keep the shape, and you're done. Just throw it over the sissy bar and hit the road. I did quite a bit of research on touring bags, since I plan to do some serious asphalt-scorching this year. Kuryakyn makes a nice one, Nelson-Rigg does too. The Tahoe had the right number of features at a price I could handle, and it has a lifetime warranty.
There you are. It sure feels nice to tell others about excellent customer service and a quality product. I highly recommend motorcycle-luggage.com for their service and T-Bags for their product.

Thx big guy for the update, I have been drooling over the t-bags for some time especially the Tahoe(I drive a Tahoe too). My bro ordered a Kury bag and has 2 go BAD prematurely. BAD design flaws on the Gran Tour bag. Do not order it. I will be ordering a Tahoe soon and will give these guys first choice, Update the bag cost $199 from Dennis Kirk and $39 for the top roll and free shipping too and receive it in 3 days. :-)

That's good to know. I'm glad I didn't buy the Kury, then. I went with T-Bags brand based, in part, on the recommendation of a trusted friend. Now I have to buy a luggage rack.

Good to hear Cactus. Will you be wearing it at the Western Rally?
Yup. That's the main reason I bought it.
My friend also bought a TBAG (see signature pic) it seems high quality. Last summer on our six day tour we rode through 1 full day of nonstop rain and his stuff was completely dry!
Don't know how well it will work with the rounded sissy bar pad but I'm sure you can make something work

Yep, that's what I was thinking, but even though the backrest support is tapered, the backrest pad fits tight in the pocket. There's a strap on each side that you loop around your luggage rack or the grab rails to secure it. My luggage rack is on order, so I just tested it by sitting the bag on the pillion seat. It should work better turned around on the rack.

Glad to hear somebody got it right. My Kuryakyn Full Dresser bag came with a bike I bought and it was a royal bit** to mount. Also, the zippers required Herculean effort to open and close due to their waterproof design. Although it is HUGE and will hold lots of stuff. Did I mention it is a bear to transport between your bike and motel room? Even though it has little wheels the handle is strapping and way too long to be practical.

cj, the cobra will work with oem mount? Thanks for the info
Yes. It bolts right on and comes with 4 bolts use them because they are longer than the stock ones.
I'm glad I read this post before buying a bag. I already installed the Cobra luggage rack and it's great.
Has anyone purchased or known anyone who had the Kuryakyn Tour Trunk Roll Bag?

Ok cool, like the rack, sounds like a good deal. Anyone got any suggestions for the hard bag top rails?
I went to the local Cycle Gear today to pick up 4 qts of Mobil 1 10W-40 synthetic and noticed this sitting on a shelf so I grabbed it and asked the guy if I could take it to the parking lot and see how it looked and mounted on the bike.....well, you know the rest of the story....it came home with me. They had some coupons and discounts so I got it for the same price as online with no shipping costs, or the best part, no waiting. I really like it. XL bag came with roll top bag and rain cover. On the largest "setting" it fits nicely on the over sized backrest and on the Cobra rack. I liked the nylon a little better than the leather, especially for the cost and the fact that I will probably only use the big bag 3-4 times a year. I'll post a pic of it on the bike later today.

my T bag works great, unbelievable amount of room to store stuff, side pockets are great for holding the things you want to get at fast, ie; camera and smokes. is a little tough sometimes to fit it over the back rest cushion but is well worth the putzin ! good choice !!!

Here you go, just took these. The front of the bag unzips and opens up for easy packing, you can angle it open or it can open all the way. There is also a zippered hatch at the top. Included with the Tahoe are an attached rain cover and a mesh roll net, to secure a duffel, tent, sleeping bag, etc. on top of the main bag. There are 2 large insulated side pockets that could hold water bottles, etc.
** Edit - I forgot to mention that there is a zipper around the entire circumference of the bag that allows an additional 2" or 3" of expansion space.

CJ: One question regarding the Tahoe bag, does the sleeve that attaches to your sissy bar PAD go around it since our sissy bar pad/bar is 5 inches thick?? Plx explain.
Todd: i like that bag alot too, does it fit the 5 inch thick sissy bar pad well? What would be the cost for the average guy?
Thx Guys. i really like the features of the Tahoe for sure.

Yes, it fits. You have to squeeze it and work it on, but this is one case where tighter is better. I know that can apply to other things ::) I have my luggage rack on order, and I assume it will be here end of the week, if you'd like I can get the rack mounted and then see how well the bags fits and report back.

Thx CJ; you will like the rack, I own one. I was just wondering about the sleeve on the t-bag not fitting all the way around the thick sissy bar pad but if you say it fits, it fits. Thx CJ
Shep, now that is a good idea about the .357 extras ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) Looks just like the extra shell storage spots on a hunting vest!!!
Doc, fits over the pad well. The list price is 149.99...I have seen it on the internet for 134.99 - 139.99.
I have the cobra rack too if anyone is interested in that part of it. The sleeve is adjustable and the largest setting slides over the backrest without undue effort or squeezing it in. When I first took it out to the parking lot to try it on for size, I tried all the different settings up to the largest. The largest setting slips over the large backrest and is nice and snug, but not too tight, and secures from the sides where it slides over, and over the top/bottom with a quick release clip. I tried to kinda "force" it over on the smaller settings and it would work but it marked up my backrest. Does not mark it up from the large setting.
(oh, and by mark up I mean kind of scuff or leave a lighter streak in the material, kind of like when you accidentally drag your boot across the saddle or passenger seat. So, here's a tip for you if no one has tried this.....kiwi black paste shoe polish, just like you shine up your black shoes....just apply and let dry and buff off...a couple applications and all the scuffs are gone....my fear was that is would be slick or slippery on flat surfaces, but it is not.....I can't be the first one to think of this ??? ??? ???

I thought I'd update this thread. My Cobra rack arrived at my doorstep today, so I installed it and mounted the T-Bags Tahoe so those who are interested can see how it looks. It was actually a lot easier mounting the bag while on the rack than it was while it was on the pillion seat. It fits nice and snug. So those of you who may have been on the fence about this, you can see for yourself how it looks ready to hit the road.

Todd how well does the bag close. I checked on the bottom bag is fastened with a velcro lid instead of a zipper???
Closes very good I think...in fact, you kinda have to wrestle a little to get it open.....I figured that was a good trade off to make sure it doesn't open. And with the roll bag on that also keeps it shut.

It probably would be big enough for solo.....you can judge how far up the XL sits for yourself in this photo on a cobra rack......a few buck gets you some xtra room....but if you think its too high you could go for the lower profile one.

Todd I have the same bag I bought it 4 yrs ago.It has worked well and very handy to get off and on bike.I have been in a lot of downpours without the rainfly and everything stayed dry.My only
complant sometimes wish it was bigger when I am camping. So I just add another pack for camping gear.
That's great to know kowboy...your the first I've heard from that has the same bag..
....My camping days I think are over...used to hike the Appalachian Trial and backpack camp for days...then moved to car camping with air mattresses....then moved to econolodge....then to hampton inn...and so on and so on LOL.......
I can last several days on what I can put in the saddlebags...but my wife needs a little more room to pack the bathroom and kitchen.

Todd and kowboy, I also have that same bag. Bought it last summer after I bought the Nomad because it fits over the passenger backrest. Only thing I don't like is the velcro closure on the roll bag. I use one of the straps snuged down around it to hold it down. Other than that it is a nice bag.

Well I got my all leather touring bag today. The leather on that sucker is thick!! Super duper stiching too. There is a problem:
The leather is so thick and hard that if I mount it on my passenger seat the stiching underneath the bag and the edge of the leather is sharp and will no doubt cut my passenger seat. The strap that hold it to the backrest have the same issue as the straps will cut the backrest if tightened up. That plus the strap barely fit over the padding.
I'm going to get a Cobra rack anyway so I'll mount the bag on the rack to avoid marring up my seat and backrest. Did I say the leather is thick? Just opening up the lid and side pockets is somewhat hard because the leather doesn't flex easily since it's that thick.
For $75 delivered it's worth it I guess. It has tons of chrome eye hooks so black bungies will be the norm for me. Rain cover was included

That looks just like the one I have BD. I paid $105 at the local bike store, which I thought was a deal at the time.

Yea, it kinda does doesn't it! Yours looks like the studded version.

That's because Caddmann's a stud and, well, you know.
Thanks for the report on the bag though. I was waiting for you to get yours in before I decided if I would get it. Honestly though, would you get it again?
Mine's not leather though. It's some kind of stiff heavy textured Naugahyde with stiff plastic liners inside.
And no way do I qualify as a stud. I was always too much of a geek. ::)

Don't worry Caddmann, compared to BD, you're the ultimate stud. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif
I called jafrum and they have this bag
http://www.jafrum.com/Motorcycle-Luggage/Motorcycle-Sissy-Bar-Bags/SB1
and this one
http://www.jafrum.com/Motorcycle-Luggage/Motorcycle-Sissy-Bar-Bags/SB1PU
The only difference is the first is real leather and the second is man-made. The difference in price though is $10.
I'm debating which to get at this time.

If the parts that touch the seat and the backrest weren't so robust I would buy it again! Since I'm orderng the cobra back rack and have always planned to mount any bag I bought there then it's good. It ain't going to wear out for about 100 years. the leather is as think as a saddle.
Soooo if you plan on using it only on the passenger seat then no I wouldn't buy it again.

Hey SWB, I had the leather bag and really enjoyed it. Made of tuff buffalo leather. Expands out really nice. Only problem is it did not fit over the sissy pad. But that was not a problem as the tie down straps were long and wide to give a good tight hold. I think you will like it. I also got mine from the same place. You may want to check eBay. I think you can get the same bag from the same place for maybe $15.00 less.

I'm a little late on this thread but I wish to share my experience with T-Bag. I have an older Super-T without the flip down map pocket on the back. I occasionally do use the roll top.
www.tbags.com/detail.aspx?ID=15&SelectedCat=4 (http://www.tbags.com/detail.aspx?ID=15&SelectedCat=4)
It is expandable from 1 cft to 2 cft. I usually depart with it stuffed and collapsed to 1 cft. I always come back with more stuff than when I left. So I love the expansion feature.
I have used it tens of thousands of miles and it has been a solid bag. It was the bag for my Alaska tour. It has stayed dry even ridding through torrential thunderstorms (we're talking where ducks were grounded and frogs looked for rocks to hide under).
I can't compare it to others from personal experience but for my touring style and what I seen and heard form others this is the bag for me.

Joe,
I have a set of these. They are good bags. The only thing I would watch out for is the clips. They are plastic. I put it on the bike once gave it probably too snug of a tug and broke one of the clips. Other than that, very functional and a good amount of storage.

I installed a MC Enterprises luggage rack Part # 150-46 its rated for 20 lbs, and is made out of 5/8" steel chromed tubing. Sits like the cobra rack and looks 100% better than the stock oem rack. I ordered it from http://sideroadcycles.com and paid $134 dollars plus $11.00 shipping. It looks great on the nomad, especially with bag rails installed. And it also lets you see the side reflectors too! Would recommend this rack. and oh yes, it fits the oem back rest just fine, comes complete with longer bolts, too!
