There you go ladies and gentlemen. The rates are up and ready for you to call in. Mary told me that the weekend following our rally is a huge weekend for them so she suggests that everyone get their rooms reserved.

Made my reservation yesterday.

Mary mentioned the weekend rates, starting Friday June 18th, will be 140.00 per night. :-/
So, if you are planning on staying beyond Thursday night.....you'll probably want to choose a motel in another location.

Don't know the roads you like to travel, but some of us Georgians are planning on pulling out Sunday and taking better part of two days for the trip up. Same coming back arriving home on Sat.

We don't plan on doing much interstate.

After much sole searching and some discussion with the Reaper, I have a hotel room Mon - Thurs in Staunton also. Doug and I are going to share. But we both plan to hang some with the campers.

Well, I was goning to camp, but then all this talk of semi clothed (barefoot) spiritual rituals (sole searching) made me feel unworthy and so I banished myself to a hotel...
But, I hoped that with time and 1 or 2 bottles of red; Mr Funi, the reaper and I could become honorary members of the TTCC (trailer toting camping cult)!
The initiation being eating copius amounts of smoores!!! Red, even cheap red is really good with chocolate!

A grand total of 2 rooms have been booked so far for the June rally.

Seems extremely low to me so please respond if you have booked a room.

Joe, trailer to Blairsville, that's 730 miles for you. The rest of the days to, from and at the rally will be less than 250! And the trip to and from the rally is going to be as good if not better than the rally.

Common man, join in! I'm bringing wine and Tami's bringing chocolate!

Easy choice Joe! ;)
Trailer up, avoid boring ride on crowded highways, then have plenty of energy for the great scenery and mountain roads of NC,WV,Tn,Va. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif Then at weeks end Nice shower jump in the Air conditioned tow vehicle for a nice relaxing ride home. ;)

Less un-enjoyable mi. put on bike, more energy for rides at rally,
and relaxed trip home enjoying the stereo, cool drink and conversation with your best girl. http://s2.images.proboards.com/cool.gif Yep easy call. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

Ole Dawg, Trosco, Kaw-Head, sounds like a plan. Appreciate the encouragement.

Trosco..Why Blairsville? I was thinking about heading up I-95 to I-77 and maybe loosing the trailer in say Roanoke? That's 925 trailer miles and 75 riding miles to Staunton.

Through Blairsville adds another 300 miles to the trip.

trosco

Joe: Dkdixe (Dick Campbell) lives in Blairsville. The plan is for us Floridians and the Georgians to rendevous at Dick's place late afternoon/early evening Saturday. Drink, eat and tell stories and sleep (Cabins for rent at the end of Dick's street) Then spend Sunday and Monday doing about 200-250 miles each day on the Blue Ridge Parkway and similar roads arriving in Staunton Monday evening. Then 3 days at the rally and leave Friday morning. Thats two more 200-250 mile days (perhaps on the WV roads this time?)and arrive back in Blairsville area Saturday evening. That leaves Sunday for the one long travel day home.
Right now Dick, Cliff and Richard up there are coming. I believe Ron, Mike and Jim (each with a wife and a camper) are coming. And Doug and I are coming with but we are going to motel it like Dick, Cliff and Richard. There's been some talk of some folks meeting us along the way also.

Ron and I came up with a route that we plan to take with Jim & Leanne. Ron's going to post it soon so anyone who wants to join us can ride up to Dicks house with us.

Joe, take a look at it when he posts and see if you want to hang with us or shoot on up to VA.

Joe, Jim and Leanne are going to Tupperware it up, riding in hermetically sealed and burped plastic machines.

Trailer your bike up to Dick's place and we will all ride the other legs up to the rally...most roads will be non-major roads and it won't be a hard ride. I'll even let you help route it...I know how much you like to do that.

I just made reservations at the Day's Inn for Wed and Thurs nights....I am riding up from teh Charlotte, NC area, leaving on Tuesday morning, and likely taking until sometime Wed to get there..
I am taking I 77 up to the NC/VA border area (around Fancy Gap, VA), and then onto the Blue Ridge Parkway for the rest of the way..Anyone going part or all of that route, if you want another rider in your group, let me know, please...

I waited this long because I was leery of riding in the rain...the ten day forecast has the weather clear on the days I plan to travel...If it does turn out to look like rain next week, I will just come in the car..too old and "frail" to rough it...

Can't wait to meet more folks..Only have met Ross (Trosco) adn Dixie Dick so far..
