Ron,

I can't make a firm commitment at this time but if Suzanne and I can make it we will definitely want one of the cottages. (not the cabins)

Ron, I would be interested in camping, I would be a tent camper and I would be alone. Cost will make my decision so it depends on what they would allow tent campers to do. If 2-3 of us can set up on a site and split the $30 three ways then I am in. Or if they have a group site where a half dozen people in tents can set up? But, if they want each single person to purchase a site at $30 a day then I will hotel it and just look for someone to share a room with?

That's probably a good idea Jim. It's better to work the bugs out when your close to the house rather than 900 miles away in the middle of no where with a bunch of guys giving you crap while you struggle.

I shouldn't speak for them... "While I give you crap"

just kidding

Mike, just make sure that last week before the rally you stay off the beer. Beer farts have been known to spontaneously ignite the nylon that tent fabric is made of !!! I have a recipe of cabbage in bacon grease, scrabbled eggs, raisins, and day old black coffee. I've been known to clear a break rooms or kill roaches and small rodents in a 2400 sqft dwelling. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif I shoulda put this in the 'Did You Know' section

Last night we found out my wife can't make this trip due to her job is not allowing vacations during that time. So, I'm on my own.

I am absolutly going to reserve a tent site no matter the cost. It's going to be a great time sitting around the fire, have a few beers, chatting it up with everyone.

I'll have a tent site if anyone wants to share it.

Just getting caught up on this trip. Hey Coach, I thought this was a South East forum trip. It's a 1000 miles from my place! ??? May have to dust off the trailer and pull Eleanor up and then do some local riding up there.

Anyway if I can make it, it's a hotel for me and my old bones.

I promise, the next big event will be down this a-ways Mr. Joe. I actually think we could put together a decent scenic set of rides through north central Florida for a 3 day rally some time. I definitely know we could fill the days with good eats.

You put Eleanor on the trailer and pull her up to Staunton and ride with Mike, Tamminator and me. We'll have a blast. You can even have some S'mores and wine...and not out of a box either ;)

This time of the year when the Carolina riders are snowed in and it's cold north of the Fl/Ga border... We've got sunshine in the 70's here. ;)

Natalie and I bought a Time Out camper over the weekend. It's not new and needs some cosmetics, but at least I'm not going to be on the ground.

I picked it up with the bike Friday night and rode 85 miles on the expressway back to the house from the sellers place. I can see I'll be looking for a gas station ever 100 miles if I go 70 or 75 mph. Maybe I'll get better mpg on the back roads going a little slower.

Sorry, didn't mean to send that last post without a reply.

Now that Mike has joined the upscale camper trailer class, I feel like the poor country cousin with my tent.

Does the "Florida Camp-a-long group" have its own decal?

Coot,

you are more than welcome to join the Florida camp-a-long group. I'm sure we might be camping more than just to the rally in June now that Mike has such a show piece rig. ;)

You juss don't know DK. Folks that sleep in motel rooms are a lot braver than I am. You've lived a sheltered life and folks carry on in them motel rooms like you would't believe.

Ax Coach, this is his area of expertise. http://s2.images.proboards.com/grin.gif

I'd much rather take my chances wiff the alligators, snakes, and brown recluse.
And s'mores :)

Hey Mike and Ron, I may have a easier solution, If Mike really wants to buy that camper. I make a trip to Charlotte NC once a month. I spend 2 or 3 days there checking on the house and visiting friends. I always drive the pick up. My next trip will be during the second full week of Feb. (around 12th) So If the camper passes Ron's inspection and Mike buys it if Ron can get it to Jax I'll just toss her in the back of the pickup and bring her to Charlotte. That's only a couple hours from you right Mike? And you can just get it from there instead of Ron and you each having to ride a 800 mile round trip to meet half way. Let me know guys!

Thanks Mike. I'm 2 1/2 hours north so your 15 miles is a tad bit closer.

Mike, Ron & Mike (bigsid):

You guys let me know how the trailer thing works out. It would be absolutley no problem to bring it up when I come to Charlotte. And actually Mike, the garage there is pretty much empty. If need be it could sit in the garage for a week or two till it was good weather and you had time to get it. I have a friend there that has a key and can let you in. Just need a few days notice cause he travels a lot for work.

Give me a call if you need help working this out.
