View Full Version : Shouting a BIG thanks buddy!!!

I got stuck in a traffic tie up due to an accident on rt. 17 in NJ today. The speed limit is 55 but on my bike I usually do about 70 to stay alive. It's heavily patrolled by the lowest police force on the face of the earth, that is the Bergen County Police. A lowlife patrolman gets over $90,000 after about 4 years. They are lowlife ba$tard$ so I would like to obey the limit. I do in my work van.

Back to the point, for about 10 or 15 minutes the traffic was stopped or just rolling in 1st gear. A huge white tractor trailer was behind me and he never came within 20 feet of me. Sometimes he stayed as far back as I would guess 40 feet. This guy was obviously looking out for my butt. I just wish there was some way that I could say thanks. Maybe he was a biker himself. It just makes you want to return the favor to humanity. Well, everyone but those lowlife SOB Bergen County Police.

Enjoy!!

I have a CB on the Nomad and occasionally talk to truckers on the interstate. Every once in a while I connect with a couple of them and then for the rest of the trip those guys and the ones ahead know I'm there and watch out for me. Kind of nice actually.

By the way, I'm not sure just exactly how you feel about the Bergen County Police but I do sense a smidgeon of hostility.

I know what it is like when I am on the bike and I don't like folks to follow too closely. Therefore, when I get behind a bike I usually give him a safety net. Just wish more people would do the same.

Reminds me of a lil story. One night my mom-in-law came into our house and was a bit shaken. It seems she was "harrassed" by a couple bikers!! When I asked what happened, she said when she was getting on a freeway ramp there were a couple bikers in front of her that were "going way too slow"!! She swore up and down she gave them "enough room". But when they got on the freeway, the 2 bikes got in front of her, then slowed way down. She was mad as heck about it. When I asked her "how much was enough", she said, "I don't know, about a car length or two" !!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/shocked.gif This statement coming from a 72 year ole woman whos' daughter and son and law are avid bikers!! http://s2.images.proboards.com/angry.gif:(" title=">:(" border="0"/> I then proceeded to explain the "tiny" difference between taking on a ramp in a cage, vs a 2 wheeled motor-vehicle. And how she should have given about TEN car lengths instead of 1 or 2!! I asked her how'd she felt if one of those 2 bikers was a beginner, and going faster than he/she should to "keep ahead of her", and scraped a floorboard HARD, lost traction, went down, and then got run over by an impatient grandma?? She got the point.. ;)

I do the same thing, Gene, but seems like half the time I do it some asshat jumps right in front of me right on the biker's butt! http://s2.images.proboards.com/angry.gif:(" title=">:(" border="0"/>
