I was playing around with my Nad today and accidentally had a pail push close to th exhaust. It rumbled beautifully!!!!! I stared to play a bit more and found that if I held a 3/4" piece of steel at the end of the exhaust (not directly against the hole) I got a real nice rumble. My question is, if I maintain that 1/2" space away from the exhaust opening with spacers and place a 3/4" strip of steel flush with the end of the pipe, am I restrictin the exhaust too much. Seems to easy of a way to get more rumble.

It might be ok to do what your thinking. Try it and see if the bike still has decent power. If its restricted to much you will feel the power has dropped off.

Someone, somewhere, sometime ago mentioned they added an extension on their pipes to add "rumble".
It didn't seem to me that they had any space though.
Anyway... if you are good at that type of stuff you might want to find some exhaust tips and then cut some sort of porting into them if it provides more of the sound you're looking for.
Good luck.

Sponge, you ever thought about doing the debaffle. Very inexpensive and shouldn't take long to do. Not nearly as loud as V&H or Cobra's but a nice sound.

I picked up a set of Valkyrie tips for a little over $60 on ebay. Audiogooroo and Schoeney also have the same tips. They do add more of a deeper tone to the debaffle. Good luck.

TopCat put the H-D factory fishtail extensions on his stock exhaust. I had a set of these on our Electra Glide that had the Screaming Eagle mufflers. It had a great sound (not loud at all) but the extension gave it a great tone. Not raspy at all.
Just another option...
