View Full Version : How many helmets do you have?
I’ve got 4 for me and 2 for the wife. Started with a black Bell open face, and then tried a full face from G-Max, found it too restrictive. Then I tried a half helmet from Scorpion, nice helmet but it’s still not what I’m looking for. So I just bought a white open face form G-Max, I think this will be my main helmet. I’m planning to get a Bluetooth intercom and think it would work best with the open face. Just wondering if anyone else has gone through this many helmets in less than a year? The wife’s are the black Bell and the full face, so I may be getting her a new open face to match mine. And that will make 7.

I have two and Cindy has three.
I have a half helmet that I NEVER wear and a full face G-Max I wear on every ride.
Cindy has a half helmet she never wears and a 3/4 Z1R she wears when it is hot and I can't talk her into wearing the full face G-Max she has. :(

I have three, full face modular, 3/4 and a half. I wear the 1/2 about 90% of the time. The full face is worn only in very cold or wet weather.

I have a Scorpion EXO-200 that was given to me as a spiff by the dealership where I bought my Suzuki. I don't wear it because it doesn't fit well and gets painful after an hour or two.
I have a Scorpion EXO-100 half helmet that I wear during cooler weather. Unlike the EXO-200, it is a very comfortable lid.
I have a Bell Drifter that is a very good half-helmet, but it's made for a rounder noggin and causes a nasty pressure point after a couple of hours. Don't wear it much.
I have a Nolan N43-Ncom that I wear for our two weeks of cold weather. It has a full shield and is also very comfortable.
I have an HJC Vulcan 2 helmet with the Kawasaki Vulcan graphics on it. It was a nice helmet until a gust of wind blew it off my seat and it chipped. They are out of production so I can't replace it.
Last, I have a KBC Nomad half-helmet that I really like and wear almost all the time. It has gotten beat up and I'll be replacing it soon.
I guess I have 6 helmets. 4 half-helmets and two 3/4 helmets.

4, 3 for me and 1 for the wife. Full-face modular for really cold riding, full-face for cool or long trips and a half-helmet I wear about 80% of the time. On cold rides with my wife, we'll both wear the full-facers.

I have three--two for me and one for my wife. I have a half and a full face helment. My wife has a full. I wear the half when riding short distances and the full on longer trips. My wife likes the half more than she likes her full. She has been looking for the right half that is the right color (Pink).

I have 4...my first helmet was a modular full face HJC...will still be my winter/cold helmet......a small skid lid, a 3/4 helmet, and a recently aquired scorpion helmet...I will probably use the scorpion most of the time....here in Texas we don't have to ride with a helmet, but I do anyway
I’m glad to see I’m not alone with all these helmets. Next question, where do you keep them? Just looking around and 1 is next to me in my office, 1 is on the back patio, 3 are in the bathroom of my shop and 1 is in my trunk on the bike. Looks like I need to build a storage rack to keep them together. Guess it should be big enough for a couple more.

3 for me. None are fancy except the full-face which cost over $500. I don't like it and won't wear it.
I am looking for an light-weight skull-cap style helmet since I have neck problems and the weight of helmets causes me problems on long days of riding. I would be better off without one sometimes.

Three for me, two for the wife and one for the grandkids.
I currently have one half helmet with two liners. the spare came out of the helmet that saved my head when I crashed. Since I bought the same style to replace it I couldnt see throwing away the liner.
I plan on buying either a full face or a flip-up for winter use.

Two for me and two for the wife. Both of us have 3/4's that we never wear. She has an HJC half that she wears for all riding and I have the HJC Vulcan half that I always wear. Never tried a full face and probably won't unless I know I'll be riding in very cold weather. We don't have that down here so I'll only purchase one if I head up North in the Spring or Fall.

Three for me: 1/2 that I wear around town, 3/4 for road trips and a full face flip up for cold weather, but I really hate it and never wear it. It makes me feel as confined as driving the cage.

I have three 1/2 helmets, one 3/4 helmet, and one full modular helmet. Only wore the 3/4 once (didn't like it) and only wear the full in the rain. The rest of the time is split between the 1/2s, so that makes 5 for me, and the wife has three (two 1/2s and one full modular which has never been worn) so for the family, that makes 8.

4 for me, 1 of each type, 3 for the wife, 2 for the grandkids. My wife and I pretty much stick to our HJC Sy-Max modulars now. Have a shelf in the garage to keep them on and grab one when I go for a ride.

Currently I have 3 Modulars that I wear for different rides:
1) Nolan N-103. Both Tammi and I have this one and it's our 2-up gear since they have the Bluetooth Intercom system on them. I wear it when we're together on the Nomad and it's very comfortable.
2) Scorpion EXO-900. I love how this fits and thought it would be my last helmet for a while, but the fit is too tight for the intercom mike boom to fit when closed. Hence, the Nolan. Tammi actually got the Nolan first and loved it. And the comm gear fits great. I usually wear the Scorpion when I'm riding solo.
3). HJC CL-Max. I like this one for cold weather since it fits looser and I can put a fleece Baccalava underneath it and not get a pinched headache. It's comfy for two to three hours before needing a break.
Tammi has the Nolan and another inexpensive modular that got her started.
I also went through a Scorpion FF, a Shoei FF and an inexpensive modular in the last year before settling on these three.
Since niether of us has ever worn anything but FF-type, I can't say I feel limited or "caged" in by them. I do feel safe and the flip up is nice in Parking lots, etc when doing slow speed riding.

4 for me: half helmet for warm weather when I don't want to listen to music, 3/4 for communication when riding with wifey, 2 full-faces for cold weather (Just replaced the old-full-face with a new one and, well, the old one's not bad enough to toss, too bad to sell, and ...
2 for wife: full-face modular that she always wears; 3/4 to collect dust.

Make that 7. I just drove over to The Helmet Harbor at lunch and bought an HJC CL-21M half helmet. The owner was going to return them because they weren't a big seller and gave me a really good deal on it.

And TC - I did try some full face helmets on, I just can't find one that fits comfortably.

I have 2 (full face and half helmet). Wear the full face more often than not with the half on hot days and shorter rides. The full face has the bluetooth setup in it. Wife has one, a modular.
4 for me and 1 for my wife.
I have two full faced helmets, 1 - 3/4 helmet and 1 lid.
The predominant helmet I wear is the 3/4. Believe it or not it is an HD brand helmet and is the most comfortable. I have J&M wiring installed in the 3/4 and both full faced.
5 helmets...HJC Modular which never gets used anymore, one Fulmer that my wife got when we had our first Nomad, now I have a blue and have a silver Scorpion Exo Halves and my wife has the Pink Scorpion Half....Haven't found a helmet like these so I stick with them so much to wear I got the the blue and the silver colors to match my bike.

2 Total. I Scorpion EXO-100 (Half) and a Scorpion EXO 400 (Full). I wear the half when it is 75 degrees or more.
I was thinking about getting a modular but I see many of you don't use yours very often so maybe I won't.

I love the modular helmets. They give full protection on the highway and can flip up at slower speeds for ventilation or a better view. At highway speeds, I close the helmet and flip up the faceshield. Plenty of ventilation even on the hottest days.
